Those are good looking copper locks, I don't think I've even seen the Small Green one before. I like it and love the XX shield ::tu::

Gary, what is that image in your avatar?
Hawaiian Lei O Mano.
(Lei O Mano is a shark-toothed war club used by the Hawaiian People in ancient times)

.
Beautiful, work of art, and looks lethal just sitting there. Imagine getting a drubbing with that.

I saw one at Bishop Museum in Hawaii some years back Your correct they are works of art. I remember thinking it would rip you open like no other weapon. These weapons would do an insane amount of damage. Here's a few photos I found.

Last month I attended the annual Cultural Festival at Puuhonua O Honaunau National Park and got to watch and talk story with a native Hawaiian cultural practitioner as he constructed various ancient Hawaiian tools and weapons. It was fascinating to hear him explain how first he had to construct the tools from scratch using only the natural materials and resources available in ancient times. Then, once he had made the necessary tools and gathered and prepared the necessary components, he began constructing Lei O Mano following the techniques passed down from generation to generation. As you can well imagine, it is an extremely time consuming and labor intensive process completely done by hand without any type of metal tools. As you can clearly see in Gary's beautiful photos, the finished products were not only extremely effective, fully functional weapons, they were amazing works of high art, high quality and precision craftsmanship.

Love those pics Gary, thanks, that is like going to the museum. Very cool. Gorgeous woodworking and drilling.
Sounds fascinating Q, do you know how they drill such small, clean uniform holes in Shark teeth with no metal? That is amazing and appears done by a master. Very cool. Thanks for the story both of you. Great to see and read about.

This is a something old / something new matching pair. The old is a well used Remington R1303 Bullet (circa 1920) and the new is an unused Tony Bose Wilfred (2016). These knives are exactly the same size and the frame shape is very nearly identical. The Bose is thinner, lighter, a whole lot tighter, and the blade is far superior. But I have to say the old Remington feels better in the hand and the Remington bone is prettier (IMO). The old Remington also wins the sound contest when the blade locks open. The Bose snaps closed better.

More nice pairs just keep coming in this thread! Interesting comparisons Jerry.

I was digging around in my knives yesterday and found some I forgot I forgot I had. ::facepalm::
I knew I had a couple of these old small Case 9261 pattern "cuticle workers", but turns out I have a complete set - one each from Tested, XX, and U.S.A. eras.
