That's a nice one. This is my only NYKC, pretty similar to the one above but with some minor differences, not the least of which is that mine looks like someone used the main blade to spoon out some caustic chemical.

Thanks to everyone for your comments. Lloyd that is good imformation. Oftentimes, I will be handling an old knife and I wonder about the processes that went in to making it. That cutlery companies more than 100 years ago, were able to achieve such uniformity in the look and quality of their product, is a great attestment to the skill of the workers.

Here are some New York Knife Co knives, Pre-Hammer Brand tang stamp ,all blades are marked New York Knife Co.Several different tang stamps.

New York Knife Co tool kit , hard to read leather front "The McVicker Coal & Coke Co" Cleveland. It is missing the corkscrew and metal handle that fits in the little flap at the top,if anyone has one let me know.

Thanks Mike (Scoutknives) for the lead on a NYK Tool kit set ,It was missing the 2 handles and can opener but had the corkscrew, I already had the two handles that I found a couple years ago,and will fit perfect with this set,they are metal handles that are not as common as the bone.Now I need a corkscrew and a can opener to complete the sets.I will clean the tools up and post some pics later.

A recent online auction saw this outstanding knife go for $1500USD. Totally out of my league but I post it for reference.
Listing description:
"Presented for your consideration is this extremely rare huge antique New York Knife Co. advertising display pocket knife that dates between 1910-1914. The New York Knife Co. operated from 1856 until the Great Depression took them out in 1931.
This knife is built exactly like its smaller counterpart. Same parts, same everything, just super large. This knife would have been distributed to retailers for salesman to demonstrate the benefits of owning a New York Knife Co. knife. The salesman could have used this example to explain all of the features that the knife has to offer with the hopes of making a sale of one of the smaller, more practical models.
This is a huge knife measuring approximately 11” long when closed. With both blades fully extended this knife measures an astonishing 26 1/4” long. That’s over 2 feet long!! I tried to show the size in my photos by comparing it with a coke can but it just didn’t seem to do it justice. Check out the photos where I am holding it, now those photos tell the real story of its size as I am a 6’ tall 220lb man and this knife makes my hands look child sized.
The condition is excellent for being over a century old. I don’t think it was used much or even at all. I mean for what purpose could you possibly use it for? Cutting down trees? The blades are tight and it takes quite the effort to open and close the blades (watch your fingers).
The tangs are stamped “New York Knife Co. Walden” on both blades with one small stamping of the number “10” on the other side of one of the tangs. Maybe the 10 represents that this was the 10th display knife produced? Out of how many, I don’t know but I could only locate one other example on worthpoint, which keeps records for 15+ years, and it was beaten up pretty bad."
