Here is one I have not shown before so I am going to do it now...

She is a Fight'N Rooster Peanut Red Strp 1989 # 101

I use her when I where a red tie. She is small but when I have a tie on I not need a big knife.

I think she came from Jfarmers house. GEE he takes good photos.

That's one "purty" looking Rooster you have there Ken, you've been holding out on us...

She rests in my suit-coat vest pocket. My RED tie does not have a pocket...

This tread is so long as so many others good treads (show me your?) that I have to review them to make sure I have not posted it before.

I would like to see ALL the Cells photos in this tread. So if any of you that showed your Cells fell free to place them in here to help keep a recored of them ezer.

Fight'n Rooster 3 Backspring Cattleman pattern in rose, black and gold and The End Of Day, all different colors in this, you name it. Both of these are tang stamped Celebrated.

Hey Gary, on those Rooster pen knives Frank made a set of 4 of that particular knife, all in celluloid and they all had the different placement of the shield on them. There were 72 sets produced in 1989. All marked Celebrated. The colors were red, blue, black and gray, all in the stripes.

I am not a Rooster man of knowledge. In fact I am not a man of much knowledge...

There are actually quite a few knives, pictured in the Rooster book, with the shield in that area (pg.173, pg.164, pg.140{looks like Ken's knife but like Perry mentioned, says 1 of 72 sets?}).

I have added a few more Cells to my collection. Most are Yellow ones.....

Here are some 1995 Bulldogs prototypes that are NOT yellow...

Great knives. I like celluloid (also).

I assume you got those at Sooner State Knives when I see the SSK. The one in the center SSK-2135 I think is called hummingbird feather.

These would be the 4 inch round bolster stockman a pretty popular design, with 1995 blades these would be Series II Knives with a BKC number of BKC 973 A for all of them.

BKC 973 A is a set of 33 different materials with 5 being made of each material. I think the 4 inch round bolster stockman is a really nice knife.

I am fairly new to AAPK; and glad that this thread, was brought back. I looked at the entire thread; and there are some great looking knives. I didn't know of the problem; with out-gassing with the celluloid's. I have been keeping all of mine together; guess it's time to separate them. I have kept my knives in a zippered cases; is it better to keep the cells in a individual box by themselves? Will more frequent cleaning; prevent the damage caused by the gasses? I don't have very many of them; I have a Camillus Yellow-Jacket, that I am not sure if it's celluloid or not?

Yes you have celluloid on those knives. Nice looking examples!!
I have found that if you discover a knife "outgassing" (it usually starts with darkening of the nickel), keep it in the open air to minimize corrosion on the metals, until such time as you decide to rehandle it. If the gasses are trapped in a container, their effect on the metal is maximized!

Charlie is right. Ever since I have kept my 2 remaining Schatt cells in the open air there has been a decrease in destruction and haven't noticed any more, I check them everyday and I can tell you it works to slow the process down somewhat. Like Charlie says, it will give you time to decide what kind of rehandle you want to go for. Great cells guys!!!

Charlie and Perry: this is my second time dabbling in the hobby, I never had celluloid's before. I haven't noticed any problems; is this the fate of all celluloid knives? I knew; that they could have a problem with shrinkage. So basically what you are saying is; all celluloid knives will need to be re handled at sometime? Thanks.

and you asking about Celluloid handles. You were very smart to read all in this tread too. Lots of good info here.

Here is how I try to preserve my Cell handled knives.
1. Polish with FLITZ metal polish. Wipe clean even in between scales where the closed knife blades rest.
2. Wash with WD-40 and use an air compressor to blow out any old and unwanted polish and dirt. Wipe clean and dry.
3. Ren-Wax the the knife and blades. Let dry and wipe clean.
4. I store them in a wood case with good ventilation and the blades in the open position. The wood case was an old gun case that now has glass shelves. The less sun-light they get the better too.

I like to reRen-Was them about every 6 mo. and that way I enjoy them a lot more too. (I get to play with those good looking girls)
Do NOT store them in a plastic bag in an attic or in the basement.
Most petroleum oils will in time hurt the handles too.

Hey Paul, we're not saying that all will but if you have some, it would be a good idea to keep an eye on them. Everyone has differing remedies for the problem. I have seen some really old cells that never did outgas and some that outgas almost as soon as you get the home. I do think that humidity and climate have a little to do with it, dryer versus more humid as well as what Charlie said earlier. We speak as others do on here from personal experience. It has happened recently to both Charlie and myself.
So, just to some up. Some cells may never gas and some may, it's almost impossible to predict which ones those will be.

Hukk perhaps you have forgotten but it was your influence that I got these from Sooner State Knives. I should add that these were my first Bulldogs too. I did trade one to a good AAPK knife friend and perhaps this info will help him under stand his neat Bulldog more. (right Glennbad SSK-2152)
