Nice knives, the threaded bolsters really adds to the beauty of them

Hi Tony, I only have that photo of a 24OTX. My other one has never been out of it Blue box.
I love the Final Production Certificates; a friend sent me a book of 100 of them. Ken.

That is 'Gold' Ken, sorry about the pun.

PS: How did you enjoy Bathurst. Are you a Holden man or none of those Ford people... Whatever, it was a darn good race to watch.

At 3 9/16 inches, the 837 is 5/16 inches smaller than the 804.

Oops! I did a typo in above post which I have now edited. The 837 is 3 9/16 inches long.

That 837 with bone stag handles is not all too common. The pattern is seen more often with slick black handles, in both whittler and jack configurations. The jack is a 236, and was a little more common with jigged Delriin as well as black. A few also came out with the impregnated strata wood.
In my earlier post of the Schrade Walden 890, I should have noted a closed length of 3 1/2".

I like that 837!! Don't see that one often ...
From Dale's excellent work compiling catalog info:
804 - 3-7/8" - Mechanic's Knife; bone stag handles; Large saber clip, small clip & coping pen blades; brass liners; N/S bolsters & shield
837 - 3-9/16" - "Whittler"; Serpentine pattern; Saber clip, pen & coping blades; brass liners; N/S bolsters & shield; Bone stag handle
2nd blades are different

I picked up this Schrade Walden #147 a couple weeks ago at the flea market.
It was made from 1961 to 1973. Schrade called it the “Hunters Companion” in the catalogs, except for some reason they called it the “Cougar” in the 1971 catalog.
It has some obvious flaws in it, but it will make some one a great user!

I got this real nice old Schrade yesterday. This is such a nice knife. Solidly built and all stainless. Two heavy stamped frame/liners pinned together. Springs inclosed within the liners with half stops.
I think the previous owner ground an edge on this thing; as neat a job as it is, it's still a grind job. I could be wrong.
Can any one make a comparison?
Does any one think this blade is ground down?
Goins gives this stamp 1929 - 1956.
Thank you.

I have basically this same knife, but mine has wood covers on it. Someone told me he thought the covers were modded on after, but they look very well done to me.

Those covers look great on that knife, Glenn. It probably gives you a good handle grip too.
Thanks.

So Glenn, as near as I can tell, our blades look to be the same. Maybe I do have an original grind on my knife.
That would be nice.

I would agree about the grinds. Nice one!

One of my Bro's co-workers who knows that I am into knives gave this to me. My Bro brought it to me on our recent road trip and it's pretty cool. Nice snap still and is used but in very nice overall condition.
Handle says:
CUSHION PAK
FRIDAY AND FRUIT TRAYS
SPRING CUSHION
Tangs say:
SCHRADE
WALDEN
N.Y. U.S.A.
SS102
STAINLESS
It's cool that the fruit/melon knife has a fruit tray manufacturers advertisement on it.....plus it's an amazing gesture for someone to pass the knife along to me, he told my Bro it has been in his family for many years but felt that a 'knife-guy' should have it and appreciate it.......which I do greatly.

I don't have one of those melon pokers yet, but I'm sure I will someday. Here is another old Schrade Cutco that must have been pretty common at one point. Heaven forbid that some office girl would have a little knife to open envelopes with today! Eeeek!

Dimitri, that is a lovely jack. I think maybe the biggest attraction for me regarding those old Schrade Cutco knives is the beautiful bone. Yours qualifies!
Here is a #2173 jack, 3 5/8 inches.
