Jerry, the Marbles Swingguard is current production. I liked the look of the stag and had to have one, on the cheap. This was less than $30 (maybe less than $20, don't really remember), much less than I'd find a Case for. Seldom sees use, just had a vacant spot where a Swingguard needed to be, ya know? Peace

Love the shape, the Wharn, size, lanyard tube, lock, weight, looks, etc. etc.

Ivoryman that's a nice looking knife. What is it ?

Phil--I'm pretty sure Ivoryman's knife is a GEC #73 with Ebony wood scales and a forced blade patina (using mustard and horseradish).

But, as always, I could be mistaken.

Sorry Philco, GEC Tidioute 72, 2013 in Ebony(720113). My mistake, thought this one would be obvious given all the knife lovers around here and some of the personal statements about 72s and GEC. Missed the pattern# by one Q, but hey I mixed up 72 and 73, the 23 and 73, also 42 many times too before I had one. You nailed the Ebony and mustard/horseradish. Thanks for the compliments all, knife on friends.

I still mix up the 72 & 73 models...they look very similar to me so I must be missing some minor detail.

Let's see if anyone can correctly identify the pattern number of these three examples: ~Q~

Great looking knives Q, what a group. Put me to shame why don't you with that 72. Looks like #42 on top, #73 or #23 in the middle, and a much better looking #72 on the bottom. What is that Missouri Trader, Pioneer Scout, and Lock Back Scout or something? Can't tell if the middle one is a #23 or #73 so you got me.

Total luck on the middle one, couldn't tell between #23 and #73. Gave it a stab. Sometimes a stab in the dark hits the mark.

Got these two over the past week or so. The orange one came today. Buck Slimline 721s.

Jerry I can see why you like that model so well.

Can you please tell me what the closed length of one of those knives is ?

dogg -- I've never seen the 721 or 722 in RW&B. I'd jump on one in a New York minute. Where did you find them?


Phil -- They're 4½" closed. Anodized aluminum handles. Slice paper right out of the package, or at least the ones I've tried will.

That's funny Junebug. Out here fencing means putting in new 4x4 posts when the old ones rot off in the ground.

Tidioute 72 lock back with me this week. Great knife all around, and I forgot to mention back a few pages that not only does it have all the features I love like the lock, shape, wood feel, blade shape, lanyard tube, weight, etc. if that wasn't great enough already, but it also has silky smooth action and light tension when closed combined with a lot of spine exposed. This makes it pinch open with two hands easily which I love. Even better is that it easily opens with one hand. I hold it in my palm, use finger tips of the same hand I pinch the spine and ease it 1/3 open maybe, and then with a flick of the wrist it flips out and locks in great. I llllloooooooooooooooove that.

I got them at Walmart for $25, not sure of the # on them I'll have to check with the boys.

Did they look like this? If so, this one is a 285 Bantam. It's different from the Slimlines and Spitfires.

It's a fine knife but it doesn't feel as 'hefty' in my hand, plus I don't do well with thumb studs. I have a heavy preference for the 721s & 722s. I bought a 726 Mini-Spitfire to see what that's all about but it's too small for my hand. I have a hard time opening the blade of the mini, one handed.

I know that it has probably already appeared in the que here but I seldom go out the door without my Case ..SS. Mako in a Case sheath hanging on my belt. I love my lockbacks but that Case is my favorite. I have a "comfort zone" collection - - 4 - LB7s, 4 - 110s, 2 - KaBars and even a Klein. Several are "uncirculated" and too nice to carry but I can always slip into my man cave, take out a couple and fondle them, maybe put a tiny drop of oil on the hinge, wipe off the finger prints then wrap em back up and put em back in the safe.
