I know exactly where your coming from Q! That happens to me all the time. ::nod::
Sometime I buy em anyways & have to take the heat. ::doh::
And sometimes I try to act like a responsible grow up and pass on them but it's hard. ::facepalm::

I can see why this one was a "must have". It's a real pretty piece of cutlery. ::nod::
I especially like the bolsters! ::tu:: Congrats Brah! ::handshake:: ::super_happy::

I just noticed. Is Case bringing back the "new grind"?

Got a package from Mom this week. Had some Case items in it that I had ordered from Shepard Hills. Two iron on patches, two pins for putting onto a showcase again whenever I need a new one. And last but not least, a 7318 SS medium Stockman with ebony scales & slanted bolsters. ::tu::

Although I'm a big Case fan, I am somewhat dissapointed with my purchase. This is a "Hang Over Monday" knife. The ebony appears very dull. I was hoping it would be nice & shiny. The Case stamp is a little "blurry" or "undifined". It also has some light blade rub. ::doh::

I honestly believe you can tell if a craftsman enjoys what he is doing or not by looking at his work. ::nod::
Whoever made this one was not enjoying what he does. The difference between giving πŸ’―% and giving 65% can not be hidden behind a brand name. :(

Oh Well, can't win em all I guess. ::shrug:: On a more posative note. Sense I'm not very impressed with it, chances are good that I can add it to my EDC's after a few months in my showcase. ::hmm:: Maybe even a lot sooner. ::hmm::

If anybody has any suggestions for me on how to make the ebony scales "Bright-N-Shiny" before I put Ren Wax on it I would greatly appreciate your input. ::handshake:: Thanks! ::nod::

Tom, that’s too bad about a brand new knife. Agree with you about craftsmanship, if your going to do it, do it right. If the wood handles aren’t sealed with a clear coat, you could try a wood wax or polish. As I collect mainly pre 70s Cutlery haven’t had a new Case in hand in long time. Is this Quality something you guys are seeing more of here in Case Country??
Thanks stay safe over there my friend ::tu::

Why not give Shepherd Hills Cutlery a call or send them an email and
see if they can do anything to rectify the situation. I don't know what
their return or exchange policy is. Who knows, you may get lucky.
Anyway, nice items. ::handshake::

Tom I understand your disappointment with CASE. There are several members of the Case Collector's Club, including me, that are very displeased with the 2020 Forum Knives we purchased this year and just received. It is a Buffalo Horn Jigged Mid Folding Hunter. Right out of the box mine had play in the blade, both laterally and horizontally. There were a couple of tool scratches on one scale and the jigging was badly placed to close to the upper edge. The tang stamp looked very bad. These were some of the same issues others are talking about with this knife. You would have thought for it's members the quality control would have been better and to my knowledge CASE has not responded yet.

The shipping costs to send it back would be more of a hassel than what it's worth Skip. A package to the US right now in Corona times costs around $60. ::doh:: I could be wrong but I honestly don't belive they would even care if I am happy with my purchase or not. ::shrug::

I will give them a second chance some day because they have good prices but if I recieve another low quality knife from them a second time, I'll be done with them. ::huff:: Or maybe with Case knives. ::shrug::

Tom,that wouldn’t hurt ,it’s your knife now, and as you said earlier ,it will make a great knife.Put your personal touch on it and slide it in your pocket, enjoy .
I do think Case ought to be made aware of this ,and the others that have issues so maybe can make changes.

David.. When I was a member (no longer) and the Whittler Forum knife came out the one I got was such a POS that I gave it away to another member who rehandled and fixed all the flaws.. I dont know if he still has it or not.. I sold my other Forum knives and did not look back.. Never bought another..
Thats a shame your knife is not good.. But worse yet there are others too..
