I decided to give the Craftsman 9458 fish knife some pocket time. At five inches closed, it's a pocket-full. I sure do like it.

Thanks, the Sccy is simple to use and easy to carry. I've never really tried it for accuracy but, it'll quickly make a lot of holes in a paper plate at 20 feet.

It's a manual opener but there were some auto conversions made. This model is difficult to find much information on. I don't know when they were made, how many were made, or how much they retailed for.

It's designed by Father and Son knife makers Grant and Gavin Hawk and made by CRKT.

It came standard with an extra set of handle inserts that have a slanted pattern instead of the checkered pattern that is on mine now. The D.O.G. stands for "Deadbolt Over Grabstep" which refers to the locking mechanism. It looks a lot like Benchmade's Axis Lock but the mechanics are quite different.

That bar that you see in the center of this photo slides back and forth under spring tension and it locks the blade open from the top.
