Upper end of Lake Mitchell on Alabama’s Coosa River, about 4500 ft below Lay Dam, behind which is Lay Lake.
We are renting a house.
The tree in question is next door.

A very late bloomer. Starts around mid September. Adds color when most everything else is going dormant. Photo taken a few days ago.

Homer,
Not sure what variety they are but they look identical to the one I posted. Having a grouping of several (in your photo) looks much better than a single plant. I’m going to add some more.

Oscar try this, separate some root and replant them they actually will spread on their own, that bed started with a few sprigs I got from my mom years and years ago.

Thanks Homer. Do I do it in winter when it’s dormant or can it be done when it’s in bloom. ???

It’s getting to be that tine of year again. Among the first things to bloom here in North Texas are the daffodils.

If it gets to the lower 20's tonight these things may not look all that pretty tomorrow.

Early bluebonnets in the pasture. These are the first I’ve seen this year. A few Indian Paintbrush are popping out too. In about three weeks they’ll be thick.

Great pictures everyone! I'm really enjoying them so I ran outside and took a few of my own to pay back the favor.
First one is my yellow plum tree. It blooms too soon each year. Then frost comes & I end up with only a good handful of plums.

But it does look nice when it blooms.
After that I have a bunch of pansies pictures. They call these "Stiefmütterchen" over here which means "Stepmothers".

Anyways a place that sells plants & flowers had a ton of these that they just gave away in the late fall time so I grabed a bunch of them & planted up everything I could find around here. I have even more than I took pictures of. Pansies everywhere!
It's a "Stepmother Spring" at the DeVore's house this year.

And a few more.
I could also mention that we had hail, snow, sleet, rain and even some sunshine mixed throughout the day yesterday.

Beautiful flowers, Tom.
Here is our lone little blue bonnet in the front yard.
We have a stand of live oaks between my house and my shop that had brush and briars under it, and I have been wanting to clean it out ever since we have lived here. Finally got around to it over the past couple of weeks. Took a couple of days to clear the brush, and then a couple of days to burn it all. I didn't get any "before" pictures, but the brush and briars extended out to the circle of leaves on the ground around the tree. I am also burning up a stack of old firewood that has been there ever since we moved in 4 years ago. We've found too many copperheads near it. I also found out I am now allergic to poison ivy during this process! I've never had it in my life - and have even weeded it out by hand before.
I did find a little cotton-tail bunny hiding in the log pile.

I don't know if I had ever seen this thread before, maybe as my mental retention has become increasingly lacking.
Ken , Jan's cacti both bloomed a couple weeks ago. Our daffodils were blooming in February.
Ink, lots of beauty around there. What are the pink trees blooming? The left and right look like fruit. Also are the taller white trees in the distance Bradford pears?
Good job Mike, how old are you and what region is this that has copperheads? They are the most common poisonous snakes in our area. Previous years I tackled a larger project like yours and about 5 years later I wouldn't attempt it. I'm almost 72 now. Also , what type of tree is that you cleaned around?
Love the pansies and all your horticulture Tom.
I have to give a special award to this pansy, she survived in a pot outside through the winter .
