As for assisted opening, theres no spring assistance if thats what your referring to. But it does open pretty easy with the thumb stud, and it's smooth as butter.

Its a great looking knife...I like EDC'ing tactical knives...especially ones that are easy to open.

For the last five years I have been carring a Lone Wolf Lobo. It's double action comes in handy when the auto open isn't the way to go in front of some people. It never pops open on it's own and the lock up is tight with no wobble whats so ever. The blade holds an edge for what seems like forever and the pocket clip makes it fit smooth and flat. It is a little pricey for an EDC but it works like a dog. Besides for what I have invested in knives it is the one treat I give myself. I recomend Lone Wolf knives to all. You will love the workmanship that has been put into them. Plus their warranty is lifetime with no questions asked. Mail it in and it comes back tuned up and looking new. Made in the U.S.A.

Added this little, Great Eastern Northfield,stag mini-lockback,to my EDC rotation----sharpened and polished the trademark off,and it's a sweet little knife for everyday,carry --------------I had carried a Case, mini-copperlock,for a few years, this knife is very similar

Been carrying my Schatt & Morgan Rail Splitter for a few days. I've had it for a while and finally decided to give it some serious pocket time. This is one beefy bear-trap of a knife!

I got a new heavy use knife this week.
It is a Buck 345 Vantage. It fits my hand nicely and I like the placement of the clip at very end of the handle. It rides nice and low in my pocket and is less likely to get knocked out when I brush against something.
It has a 420C blade, but when Paul Bos oversees the heat treating it preforms far better than the average 420C does. I like this knife so much, I think my next user will be the Buck 347, the Vantage Pro, with S30V steel. I am anxious to see how it preforms as opposed to the 420C.

I am interested in your assessment of the S30V.
Have any of you used the Vantage Pro with S30V or any knife with S30V?
If so I would like to know your opinion of the steel. Do you think it is worth the extra price? How does it take & hold an edge?

This knife will get lots of use, from cutting up boxes to camping, fishing and general use around the shop which may include trimming excess solder, glue, brass burrs, or cutting wood.

What kind of handle material is that?
Is it the new Paperstone?
If so. how do you feel about it?

I don't like the FRN handles because they are slick & plastic looking like a million other knives.I prefer G10 handles,wood or the new paperstone which all feel & look better.My friend uses a Buck Vantage small size & seems to like it.

S30V steel is designed to be the knife supersteel so it should be sharper longer i'm guessing.I have not used S30V yet as an EDC knife so i don't know.
I carry a combat styled folder with better grip in both normal & reverse grip.It's an AUS8 steel blade Blackhawk Point Man right now.I like the knife except i'm not impressed with the blade "edge".It requires a very high angle to get a useable edge on it.It needs to be ground/reprofiled to get a hair shaving sharp edge.

I understand your point of view regarding the FRN and other plastic looking materials, Steel Dragon. You seldom get excited about them..!
On the other hand they generally are inexpensive, light weight, functional and often solid and durable, and so they make practical sense for hard working users.
I can, and do, live with "both worlds".
You like the look and feel of the new Paperstone? I'm curious about the durability of that material. Haven't tested it myself...yet.

Here it is.It has an NRA etch added to it.I'm might remove the etch area/black coating on the lower portion of the blade & finish the pocket clip too.
