The shield placement is very unique, and it looks good there. I too want to see live pics when you get it!

I had swore off buying for the rest of November and then I saw this Mini-Trapper. My dad worked for Builder's Supply in Evansville, IN in the 50's so how could I pass it up. It's not very likely the same Builder's Supply but still................. Nostalgia knows no limits.

Funny - I swore off buying anymore till after Christmas about a month ago - guess what? I’ve bought four knives since then! ::dang::

Technically not in the mail, as I'm heading there to buy and pick it up in a few hours; since my grandmother has to go into town for a doctor's appointment. I've called the store to set it aside for me.

Noticed my local knife store had this poorly stored, but unused Solingen-made black Delrin Boker 280 Whittler for $30 (technically closer to $32 with sales tax). It will be an EDC. I've wanted a quality non-Chinese Whittler for a long time; and didn't want to spend a heck of a lot. Unlike eBay, this will give me the opportunity to check this knife over good.

Bokers PERIOD here are expensive, and I figured this was a steal. My knife store typically doesn't sell low-value knives one would view more as EDC than a safe queen. They'll sell say a beat up Miller Bros. or Cattaraugus (aka something that has value even in less than perfect shape), but '70s-90s Camillus and Schrade (aka half my EDCs) they only would sell new in the box.

Glad you found it Cody. I just got a similar Whittler made by Boker for Henckels.

I just saw that one in the Mail Call thread--looks great!

The local knife store, after I called this evening (doctor's appointment ran a little late) and had them set it aside, put up a new, mint in box example in its place--selling for double what I paid for this one.

Some multitools from a seller who used to do a lot of business on eBay, but has moved to his own website. His prices are often quite high, even discounted, and he seems to only move a lot of knives when he has a sale. However, it seems he realizes his willy nilly pricing structure is costing him sales, and lots of stuff is now being listed at market value. A lot of the traditional knives, and quality tactical were out of stock. Most of what he's got is Chinese made.

But, I still managed to get two Leatherman PSTs and a Gerber Multiplier for about $50 total.

The Leatherman PST is my favorite model. Fits in a pocket well, and has ONLY what I need to do 99% of stuff. I lost a newer model called the Bond, which I'd bought to replace a PST. The Bond weighed hardly less than the Rebar, and only a hair's width narrower, but with much fewer tools. The PST weighs two ounces less, is slimmer, and has more tools. Not to mention, fine tooth pliers that actually grip stuff instead of slip off and hurt me.

One has the original leather sheath. I've seen worse sheaths for more than I paid for each tool. The only sheath fitting a PST I own was one I made myself from a Hobby Lobby kit, and my workmanship was lackluster. This will be much better.

The Gerber Multiplier is a classic; and somewhat more compact than the MP600/Multi-Lock currently offered today. I had a blunt nose version, but don't know what I did with it.

Thanks!

Especially given that my local knife store almost never sells less-than-perfect lower-value post-1970 traditional knives--and I paid less than half the cost of a comparable Case for a virtually new knife that in my opinion, had probably never been carried once.

I never realized there were so many multitool brands and models until I went shopping for one for my range bag last Spring. It was daunting. You really need to have the tool in hand to see if it has the features you need. I got one that works, but it has a lot of extra stuff I probably don't need.

Nice! A good chunk of my Bokers are smaller patterns, and they're just enough for most jobs.

That looks to be the same Whittler frame as in my 280, but with only one spring/two blades. I really like that brown bone. I mostly stick with Delrin for users as not only is it more durable, they hold a considerably lower value than bone, so they're inexpensive.

Nice! I haven't seen a Black Beauty version before. Mine has white pearl-like handle shells, and a "P" logo which is actually a flask of some sort. As I understand, these were giveaways from some chemical products company.
