Sold my Browning Bar in .308 a few months back, to sorta slim down the collection

__ decided I needed another one,so here it is __ got this new 2018 ( yes another .308) for less than I sold my 2000 model for -- scoped it out with DNZ 1pc. mount,a Meopta Meopro 3x9x40 & paracord sling -- this is my first Meopta scope, but all the reviews I read were very much positive

__ it's clear as a bell for sure !!! __ I've got another Browning ordered,but that's another story

____ have a great day my friends,Monk

That is one fine looking rifle and I'll be surprised if it doesn't shoot as good as it looks.

--- Phillip, that idea about the 243 don't sound bad at all, that is a caliper I have never owned -- may run across one someday and give it a try

Beautiful piece of craftsmanship Monk !
I question the tan in the grip and fore areas ... is that some type of inlay ??
Seems a shame to cover up such a gorgeous stock.
Just my useless opinion .. .. ..

My guess is that it's just the way the light hit the checkering.
But I've been wrong before.

Those areas are checkered, or could be the lighting or my bad photo skills

-- a little linseed oil will take care of that

And levers too!

PA is possibly moving into the 20th Century with legislation pending for opening day ( firearm, antlered) on Saturday rather than the Monday following Turkey Day. And maybe Sunday hunting too. Can now use 22 semi-autos for small game I think. Sunday hunting makes sense to me, the rest of it I don't care about.

Nice rifle Monk.
Agreed Ken and Phillip.Great caliber for deer, antelope, coyotes, etc.in the woods and desert.
Only rifle calibers Dad owned when I grew up was .22, .243 and .30-06. Did all we needed. Still have them and use them when hunting. Only other hunting rifle I have is a .17 bolt for squirrels and rabbit.
Squirrel season is coming up soon. Can’t wait.

Steve, I have always-for decades-thought the lines of the Savage 99 were classic; a beautiful rifle.
Among calibers the .270 is my ideal: minimal recoil, almost flat trajectory, and surprising punch. It has taken all North American game tho hardly appropriate for the big bears. But, according to the gun writers, it has worked well with elk and moose in the hands of experienced shooters.

The 99 is my choice.love everything.what year are the "T's"??

QS, they are an attractive rifle, far ahead of their time at introduction. I'm caretaker of a few.
garddogg56 The T's were made from 1936 to the start of WW II. A fairly short run. The fore arm checking is the giveaway for a T. No other model 99 has that much checking. It shoots very well too. This one has a Unertl 2.5 with a post and cross-hair reticle. It was on the rifle when I bought it.

Been hunting a WWI Springfield M1903 in good condition and at an affordable price for years. Finally landed it. I think this will round out my rifles.

That sure looks good from here.
I don't know my history very well on this rifle. Is that chambered for a 30.06?
