Today, here on Poverty Plantation the oldest two boys (13 and 12) went out to the gun range. We have an absolutely milspec burm built by the contracting firm of Father, Son, and Holy Spirit out behind the barn.

We sent some rounds down range out of the new AR from the new custom shop, Bubba Arms, INC. I am pleased to announce that it is minute of 2 litter water filled bottle off hand, and all gun parts and body parts are intact. More rage testing to come.

We were ramblin' through Tractor Supply today and there was a big stack of books for sale. New Gun Trader's Guide, $7.
Tonight I sat down to thumb through it's pages and realized how many firearms I have traded off over the years that now have unbelievable values, even those that are not even close to NRA perfect!
I remember a Winchester 1892 Saddle ring carbine 32-20, several pre-64 94's, a Winchester 71 .348, a Krag-Jorgensen rifle, a Browning .22 auto loader, (Belgium FN made) and the list goes on and on ....M1 Garand, several real M1 Carbines, several '03's and one 1917. I did eventually wise up and try to keep a few good ones.

Dang it man..... You just named off a lot of my dream guns! I finally wised up and joined the CMP before they sold out of the Garands and carbines. SO, I do have one each of those. But a lot of those others are still on my "A" list.

Old bomba ruined a LOT of what the CMP was doing when he DICTATED that no more weapons could be imported from other countries. That kept the CMP from getting OUR weapons back from the country WE GAVE THEM TO in the first place.
I think the gunsmiths over at CMP are assembling a few from the parts they have on hand and selling them. I think that was the last I heard.

I WANTED one of the military 45 autos until I read enough about what they were going to do and I lost interest. The CMP alluded to the price they were going to ask. They were saying that the pistols were in such good shape that they were going to have to ask the premium price for them. So, they were saying the prices would range from like $1100 to $1500..... I want one for $500 dad gum it!!

Oh well..... ONWARD!

OH yes..... One thing I wanted to show y'all but I forgot to take pics before I disassembled it.
I got myself a Steven Visible Loader 22 cal rifle at the last gun show. Those things are right on the top of my "cool guns" list. The one I bought was the first I had seen in a L---O---N--G time. It was locked up from internal surface rust so as soon as I got it home, I went to my shop and dunked into a vat of "Eds Red".

.....tf, the first rifle I ever remember shooting was a Winchester 1892(.32-20) that belonged to my granddad!!.........can't remember the year, but I sure wish I had that rifle now!!!!............. ..........................

Yes he is Mike.these are turn and drop most types are push and drop.the fluting allows it to get by the Hogue grips.Where the other wouldn't

Hey Dogg,

I had a similar issue with my PY speed loaders. They work on my .357 Colt Python but there is a nub in middle on the speed loader that contacts the cylinder timing gear. Leave the bullets about ~1/4" from fully seating but they are far enough in to load in fine. No way around that that I can see.
The same PY loader can't get past the original wood grips on my Colt Diamondback in .38 or .38+P. I just cannot get the bullets parallel with the cylinder holes to load it. Thanks for the tip on 5 star loaders. It says the have a model that will work with the firearms I mentioned. May email them on Diamondback to be sure. I have a custom leather holster and a dual speed loader holster for my Diamondback as I like to EDC that once in a while as primary or backup EDC.

That said, some newer guns can use a thin moon clip with the rounds and the clip loaded into cylinder as one unit. In other words, no knob turning required. You just drop the rounds WITH the moon clip in it and close the cylinder. When done firing, the empty cases and moon clip come out as "one unit" and you jam in another. These will not work in my 2 Colts as there needs to be clearance between rear of cylinder and frame to use these. My LGS owner uses this setup and moon clips but it is only applicable to newer compatible firearms. Might be worth checking out.

My newest toy....Smith & Wesson M&P 15-22. A couple of my buddies have these, and they are fun to plink with out at the lease. I stuck a Sightmark red dot I had laying around on top of it.

Interesting note on the Camillus demo knife....I decided to get one of those for me and the wife and kids made in the same year that each of us were born. I found a nice 1961 model for myself, and then a 1991 and 1998 model for the kids. All three of those were in the $20 to $30 range.

Then I started looking for a 1962 model for my wife. That's when I found out they made more in some years than others. The 1962 models are scarce, and regularly go for more that $300. There is one on e-bay under "completed sales" right now that actually sold for $495.

Long story short - the wife doesn't have a demo knife....and ain't likely to get one. At least not one in her birth year.

I'LL keep and eye out.I hit a lot of garage sales and flea's,ya never know.
