KJ, I read where he denied that but I have also read of horrible customer service and not always being honest so I have no reason to not believe it. It is a solid knife. And the scales are great looking. And I bought it cause I liked it so I am good. Not the fantastic ivory on the knife I bought from you but good looking non the less. Thanks for sharing.

I got a couple in today. The gunstock is pretty sweet! I can hardly wait for my stag version.
This 54 is a hunk of knife with 3 back springs. Thank you kindly Cal.

DL, secretive contracting out has been practiced by most knife manufacturing companies in USA, Britain & Europe for well over 100 years. Many of the vintage knives we collect were not entirely made by the manufacturer named on the tang.
Whether it be a modern or vintage knife, it is fun to try 'sleuth out' who made what, while still collecting the knives that speak to you. I had a very nice Amherst Cutlery knife but my eldest daughter liked it so much that it is now with her in Tanzania.

Greg, is that a satin finish on the Gunstock blades ?
I paid for a satin finish Northfield jigged bone Gunstock from CK over a week ago but it has not yet been shipped. Mike must be having trouble getting the satin finished knives from GEC ?

Roland I would guess that is the problem. Mine is a polished finish that came from CK so the satins must not be there yet.

" Mine is a polished finish", it is very attractive, not mirror shiny which is what i thought the polished ones would have. I have not seen a satin finish Gunstock yet to see how it compares.

gsmith two beauties. Especially like the bone and that stag, wow, show pieces.
Found this 54 in the mailbox and was pleased the bone is so pretty, better than the pics were. Appaloosa bone. More fond than I thought I would be. Love an equal end or a cigar or whatever you want to call it. Feels so good in the hand. Seller listed it at auction with an opening bid so high no one took him up on it, about the cost of a new one I think. It's used, barely. After a week with no bids and his listing ended I offered his minimum and feel like I stole it. Bet it would have gone for much more with a low opening bid bringing in more bidders. IMHO.

Beautiful knife, like those with double sheepfoots and double wharns. Cool shield too. Pinched and slanted too. Nice.
