Dogg, very nice knife - the 700 series are getting pretty collectible nowadays. The 703 was introduced in 1979 and had the BUCK name in Olde English script on the tang and on the shield for the first year or so. The next variation (mine is this version - approximately 1980-1984) has the block script BUCK name on the tang, but the Olde English script on the shield. The third version has the block script BUCK name on the tang and on the shield (like your knife - approximately 1984 - 1985). The fourth version has the date stamps (began in 1986). That is about as much as I know about the 700 series. I've donated my knife - it will be featured in the next set of Wounded Warrior Auctions here at AAPK in December. OH
Ps Towards the end of production these knives had no shield at all.

You are welcome Dogg. Bought a new Buck 105 yesterday, had to be in Raleigh for a meeting and lunch. When it was all over I stopped by the Bass Pro Shop to look around. I've read that they have an exclusive on white bone handled Buck's and went looking for them - sure enough they had two models; the 105 Pathfinder and the 119 Special. I got this Pathfinder version - they even had a handy rock in the parking lot - figured I get a photo before I ever left the place! OH

Bone you say? I like that. There's one thing about a knife addiction. There's always something new or at least new to you that gives you an itch.

Thanks gents, the bone handle adds some heft and balance to the knife too - just a little bigger in circumference than the standard black Phenolic and more weight too. It was very obvious in the 119 Special as it has a larger handle than the 105 in both length and circumference. OH

Nice Bucks being shown.

Just own a couple, bought 'em just because I had an urge at that moment in time.

That's a pretty good reason to buy a knife Mr. Magoo - I bet 3/4 of the knives I own is because of a monetary urge! OH

Santa delivered my first 110 yesterday, the current 50th model with a leather sheath! Rudolph whispered Buck has an order for cherry scaled 112 as well! I think my Mrs has been on the phone to Mrs Santa and I'm glad I stocked a few things under the tree.

Bob, The Buck 112 was introduced in 1972. I think you have a fairly rare 1973 "Third Version" Buck 112. The handle inlays appear to be Segua Wood (rust brown color). These were only made several months in 1973 (first two versions have Micarta handles), the Fourth Version (late 1973 introduction) has Ebony inlay handles. I would be somewhat careful of that knife. The Buck 112 Two-Dot version was introduced in 1974 - so the pre-dot Ranger has a very short manufacturing run. Bruce

No stag handles on this Buck 726ORS Mini Spitfire but she's still a mighty fine looking, stout little knife. At 3¾" closed she's just about the perfect size for me.
