I wouldn't consider this one vintage....but I thought I would show it here because you don't see Bartender knives that much anymore.

We got another six blade congress today. Bret wanted me to scan them all together.

1. J.W. Billings, Sheffield.
2. Hargreaves & Smith Co., Sheffield.
3. Providence Cutlery Co., Germany
4. Bay State Knife Co.

The Germans made a lot of these

I always pick them up when they turn up for sale, not very often you find a 6 or more bladed knife for sale in good condition, usually one or more blade is broken.

I think this one is genuine MOP. It doesn't show so well in my picture, but in the hand it has the three dimensional iridescence that no man-made material can match. This is my first pearl handled knife. It looks like something an elegant woman would have carried back in the early part of the last century, so I borrowed some props from my daughter for the picture.

Great knives Kathy. Is that Southington a quill? I think that could be Southington, Ct. Just down the road from me.

The Terrier has a unique tang. Is that old English? I have never heard of them or Washington or Curly for that matter.

Thanks Joe, and yes the Southington quill was made up in your country. Washington was a name of Grey & Dudley Hdwe, and could be german, or another contract, some even from Tidioute. Curley was up in NY somewhere, I forget where, and Terrier was a Robeson brand, that has a dog on the back of the tang.
