Mammoth Ivory Bomb Update
A couple months ago, I was bombed by "The IvoryMan" with some of his great mammoth ivory work. I have placed the tooth and the totem head on these two knives for now. I am hoping the totem head will darken with age to match the beige handle on the Setter.

I was suuuuuh-macked with Sumac!!! By Zach!!
Because of the frequent hurricanes I missed our "Sumac season" this year. I had it spotted and almost ready to pluck but no.......
When I saw Zach (That weird knife guy) posting pics of his harvested Sumac I asked him to send me a little and I'd trade him/.

It arrived today.....and so did the additional BOMBED items. So expected and I am certainly very, very thankful!!
Much respect brother......got a gallon stewing already!!!!

I sold a GEC pocket carver to Coley Wade and sent him a big chunk of basswood to fuel his passion. Today I was totally blown away when an unexpected package from TX arrived and this was inside: The man, the myth, the legend! I’m proud to put this one on display and will enjoy him all the days of my life and then pass him on to my Eagle Scout son Thank you Coley, your talents and generosity are greatly appreciated. Even my wife Cathy was blown away by your bomb which is not easy to do!

Glad you liked, most of it was done with my natural bone GEC 62 pocket carver. When my oldest got his Eagle I carved a large rough out designed by Steve Prescott, my youngest is a Life rank now and just has to finish his project, so I got to get going on his. The Prescott carvings are know for almost cartoonishly large hands, I think my next one will be a little less to the original pattern.

I saw the notice. But what can you do?

I heard the clank of the mail box lid. I went to retrieve the junk mail, just happy it's no longer full of political junk, but there was something else. Smelling faintly of pine and fleamarkets...a cleverly disguised bomb. A veritable cluster munition (of thoughtful gifts)

They of course laid claim to the top prizes which are not pictured: a top notch box knot lanyard, Scott's signature Christmas tree ornament, and the 2 foot section of leather cord binding the box closed.

The fatwood is super cool. Researched that a bit and now, my oldest, who fancies himself an adventurer with his new leather whip, is ready to start a fire with it. I gave him a piece for his nature collection.

Ill put that cord to use, and these valley forge scissors cut like a lazer. Ready to go on my desk. The tool blade on the Colonial had factory grease on it i think and the main snaps like a gator. Im going to have new pants made of maple put on it.

I was shocked. Truly. And grateful all day. Thanks so much my dude.

As a peaceful entity in a non assuming neighborhood, much unaccustomed to friendly warfare, we have always held a JFK styled stance of armed neutrality. Walk softly and carry a big stick. A big stick being a large stockpile, built up unchecked without proper congressional (my wife) oversight, of cutlery and related items.
