#goldpan wrote: Tue Mar 22, 2022 6:53 pm Morning JP! Thanks for your kind offer. I’m very interested in some bone . Even if I don’t strike out in the swap forum I’d still like to have some of that bone you’re talking about. I have a knife or two that are in need of bone covers. Thanks again and have fun at the knife show. We don’t have knife shows around here! Take care!
Evening Randy, will get a few extra pieces if the guy is there . Been a couple years since we’ve been able to have this show .
Will let you know how it goes .
Have a good one out there my Friend .

This short line Camillus 72 just arrived. Fished it out of the bay for less than $10. All three blades have good snap. The only issue is a wobbly master blade. I’ll tighten her up a bit and then add her to my 72 display. The sellers pictures did not show the tang stamp very well. I thought it was a long line stamp. What a nice surprise ::groove::

There was a 72 model marked #5 listed in the 2003 Camillus catalog. It was not listed in the 2005 catalog. There were 9 models in the series, all with a single digit model # except for the pen knife with 12 for a model number. All featured 1 High Carbon stainless steel blades. 2 Brass bolsters and liners for extra strength. 3 Resin impregnated, laminated wood handles for increased durability and luster. I have been looking for the #5 for some time and finally found this one floating in the Bay, New in the box. They also made one for Orvis like this. Thanks for looking.

Well, I just couldn't pass this one up. Nothing really special about it, but I personally didn't have this particular late production long line with this brown tone of handle. Those who collect the 72, know, that once Camillus went to Delrin handles, there were several mixture variations and colors. This particular tone I like to call Caramel brown, with the federal shield. It has excellent snap on all blades, no wobble, and no abuse. No cleaning was needed. Just wiped it down, and oiled the joints.

That’s a beautiful knife Smitty ::tu:: Camillus turned out some very nice jigged Delrin. I have a 72 that’s almost as nice. But yours is the best I have seen. The jigging goes all the way to the bolsters.
