This afternoon, I added this Walden Knife Co., Walden, N. Y.
postcard to my knife & cutlery ephemera collection. It's in
Very Good condition with no writing on it at all.

This afternoon, this ROBESON CUTLERY COMPANY pocket knife box became
the latest addition to my knife and cutlery ephemera collection.
It's not in bad shape at all. Pattern # 74303, maybe.

Here are some original, antique, Victorian era trade cards. They are for LION COFFEE and WOOLSON SPICE CO., TOLEDO, OHIO. On the back of each trade card, is an offer for a FREE POCKET KNIFE. It partly says "The above shows exact size and appearance of our new Pocket-Knife." If the illustrated pocket knife IS the "exact size", then it measures 2 7/8" closed. It has a steel blade and iron handle. All the cards are dated 1894, 1895 & 1896. The cards are two different sizes, 3 3/8" X 5 3/8" and 5 1/8" X 7" All are in GREAT condition for being over 120 years old. The front and back of each card is pictured. I do not know who manufactured the advertised pocket knife.
Captions, if any, are on the BOTTOM of the corresponding picture(s).

The advertised pocket knife measures 2 7/8" closed.
I don't know what company made this pocket knife.

My two, so far, CATTARAUGUS CUTLERY COMPANY time cards.
The first one is for E. H. Langhans.
28 hours worked, $12.50 earned.
The second one is for John Schultz.
40 hours worked, $20.00 earned.
Both are in GREAT condition.

I received this today. A Queen Steel #22 Barlow Knife Box with Display top and Back board. It is like new with only a couple of very fine veins or bends and no scuffs. It has the die-cut display straps that have not been detached. Here are some photos, the last photo with my Queen Steel # 22 with it.

Those are amazing Skip. Do you know about what years they may be from? 40 hours for $20, a whopping 50 cents an hour. Seems I read somewhere that the average wage for a laborer in 1940 was around 30 cents an hour. So someone who was a craftsman could possibly make close to that.

My Grandfather was a Machinist during WW-II and working with a Government run Shipyard in Mobile Which built Cargo Ships & Tankers until 1946. I remember him saying that he made $35 a week, which was better money than he was making before the war in Tuscaloosa at a Machine Shop. But during the war they worked a lot of hours and 6 days a week.

I believe the 1st time card is from 1923.
I believe the 2nd time card is from 1921.

Very recently, this pocket knife box joined
my knife & cutlery ephemera collection.

Nice box, Smitty, and great to have the knife to go with it, in very good condition to boot.
Good find on the time cards and a great pickup on the Schrade box, Skip.
