I understand dog. It has always fascinated me. I still don't understand how it is that a knife 12" in OAL clipped inside a jacket pocket can remain so unobtrusive; and with the weight being barely noticeable.

I am sure this was produced in Mr. Chen's old factory, the one that burned down some years ago in Dalian. After overcoming that set back and not satisfied with the quality of the steel he was receiving he made his own steel. But the report I have encountered is that both he and his son Ron have retired and are no longer connected to Hanwei which was taken over by some investment group.

This knife is strictly a user, and it performs. Patterned after a Dexter Russell beaver knife, but hand forged.

Easily my favorite and most used fixed blade.

It clearly looks like it would be excellent for trapping as well as for more common endeavors. It has great character.

Quick Steel wrote: Mon Mar 22, 2021 2:56 pm I've had this Hanwei blade a long while and it is one of my favorite fixed blades. Because of the special clip on the sheath this knife can easily be worn on the inside pocket of a suit coat, vest, sport jacket etc. So worn, there is almost no perceived weight nor is there any printing of the blade through the material. It has always struck me as sort of phenomenal. Unfortunately, I don't get much use out of its fine blade because I do not work for the CIA or some similar daring-do organization. The sheath clip is very strong with a small button at the guard which releases the knife from the sheath. All of this makes for an impressively smooth and fast draw.

I am unsure what was behind the development of this rig; there has to be an interesting story behind it. I have seen other tactical undercover rigs. This one is unique in providing and successfully hiding a 7" blade with a 5" handle. Of course it doesn't have to be concealed and the excellent blade with its beautiful hamon can be used for any purpose.

Here's my several-months-old Buck Model 119....
Reasons I like this knife:

1. It's made in the U.S.A,

2. It's mine,

3. It's legal carry in Arkansas,

4. It's a solid value for the dollar and a good EDC.

This is an Al Mar. Typical fine quality. Comes with a lined sheath. 7" blade; 4" grip. Would prefer 5".

Appreciate the comment dog. The blade is highly polished but I couldn't capture that.

Thanks guys, I designed this knife 3yrs ago , my friends company in Nepal make the blades for me out of 5160 spring steel, I make the sheaths and do the handles in different materials but mainly micarta with G10 liners , my favourite is Antler , it's got a scandi grind that I fine tune to a x cross scandi/convex , I also do a 90% spine towards the top of the spine to spark a ferro rod, this one in the pic is one of my own ZMK1'S ::tu::
