Received this Ulster 3rd model WW2 10th Mountain Division utility knife from our own knifegnome, Scott Lupinski. Scott is a great guy to deal with. Now to keep an eye out for the 1st model with the philips head screwdriver welded to the bail.

Floyd, this is a beauty!
I'm impressed with the shackle/bail shape. So many of the old knives similar to this, camping/scout patterns, are missing the shackles. Looks like this one was designed to stay attached.

Thanks Philip, I suppose the bail was of a sturdier design as the little philips head screwdriver was welded to the bails in the first model.

Bought this Old Timer improved muskrat off the AAPK site from Muskrat Man. It filled a spot in my Old Timer, Uncle Henry collection.

That is a great pattern, glad it filled a spot in your collection.
We keep one in the kitchen windowsill, it's a bit on the "well used" side and gets regular use.

I received an email advert last week from Red Hill Cutlery regarding this Commemorative Barlow with oak handles made from the flooring of the WWII barracks that were at Ft Knox, Kentucky. There were two designs, a large Barlow and a smaller Barlow, but both were identical except for their size.

Anyway, I clicked on the link to the Patton Museum located at Ft Knox and filled out the purchase form for the large Barlow. I gave a 'donation' for the knife. These knives were commissioned through RHC and the knives were made by Bear & Sons out of Alabama. 100 of each were made.

I believe they did a really nice job on these knives...at least I'm very pleased with the one I received. I'll eventually end up gifting it to my Son in Law who was in the Army, albeit, he was never stationed at Ft Knox. But it will be a nice memento for him.

They are real nice looking knives.If they ever make any from my barracks at Fort Jackson SC I'd probably purchase one, I expect they are long gone, as they were condemned when we moved into them in ' 65. The linoleum on the floor was wore through and we hated it when it got cold enough for heat for it was almost non existent and we all hated fire watch. I'd rather just been cold. Enough of the war stories.

It it kind of funny, but when I read KL's post I thought that I would like the see something made out of the Navy barracks I lived in at Philadelphia, just so I would know they were gone.. They must have been a hundred years old in 1975.

Nice barlow Ken, Bear does their best work on barlows, nice commemorative.

I got a commemorative knife in today too, a Lone Wolf Paul knife. This one commemorates VJ Day in 1945. My wife’s father fought in the Pacific during WWII on Okinawa, Sai Pan and some other islands. I wish I could find out if the wood on this knife came from a battleship or even the Missouri. The display case is really nice on this too. Made from the same wood and has two magnetic closures on it, very nice.
