QS, I found the site where you bought this knife. Very nice stuff. On the same page as your knife there was another bamboo knife for $150. Would like to have one of those.

How is the sheath portion assembled? I have been building some knives with a bamboo sheath, and these are the first I have seen being manufactured and sold.

Could you post a pic of the open end of the sheath bamboo?

Thanks for posting and sharing.

These are two bamboo sheath knives. One still needs laquer.

Tony, I hope these photos are of some assistance. Your own sheaths are looking superb. The fit of knife and sheath is excellent. The knife is easily withdrawn yet the fit is sufficiently snug to hold the knife with great security.

Excellent. Thanks for the photos. He took a large piece of bamboo, split it, and glued it. Is that bamboo wrapped with another material? Is the sheath lined?

Sorry to clog up this thread with discussion. ::paranoid::

Tony, As I understand it the bamboo is somehow wrapped with wisteria.

Frankly, I love your work. Unfortunately, I do not participate in Face Book or Instagram which, I think, provides access to your products. Do you have a web site?

Ah. I figured it was wrapped with some natural material.
Sorry, I do not have a website. Actually, these type of blades stay pretty close to home.

QS,
I build my own stands. Send me a PM with some measures or interests.

I bought this knife thru AGR years ago. Forged by Takeshi Saji, it became my go to blade whenever the work was a bit heavier, needing something more robust than a pocket knife. Made of White Steel Damascus; the blade is 6" long. Handle and sheath wrapped in what appears to be sharkskin.

Thanks JP. Most of the beauty of Saji's blades come from the quality of his workmanship. His fine blades beg to be used.

I've had this Hanwei blade a long while and it is one of my favorite fixed blades. Because of the special clip on the sheath this knife can easily be worn on the inside pocket of a suit coat, vest, sport jacket etc. So worn, there is almost no perceived weight nor is there any printing of the blade through the material. It has always struck me as sort of phenomenal. Unfortunately, I don't get much use out of its fine blade because I do not work for the CIA or some similar daring-do organization. The sheath clip is very strong with a small button at the guard which releases the knife from the sheath. All of this makes for an impressively smooth and fast draw.

I am unsure what was behind the development of this rig; there has to be an interesting story behind it. I have seen other tactical undercover rigs. This one is unique in providing and successfully hiding a 7" blade with a 5" handle. Of course it doesn't have to be concealed and the excellent blade with its beautiful hamon can be used for any purpose.
