Threw these up elsewhere but there are boys in the pic

Picked up this nice metal IKCO Imperial, first boys knife I have been able to find that still had its chain, almost full blade with original finish.

I think the chains are super cool. Great catch John

Sweet John ... from somebody who has an affinity for boys knives ... and quite frankly the chains in good condition are harder to find than the boys knife itself ...

I've a few US made boys knives on my list and thats one of the classics

Here's another Boys knife but of the more rare blunt safety blade variety - Northfield Knife Co - 2 & 3/4" closed - Cocobolo handles... Knife was no doubt enjoyed by some boy but not abused with good snap & tight - just a nice patina and character... I showed a few other boys safety knives back on pg 18 of this thread - a T Smith & Co (Sheffield) that was mine and the same pattern/blade Boys knife that was a Northfield owned by Joe (FRJ) - My Northfield is the same as Joe's but perhaps (?) made in a different time period - stamps are abit different and the pins on the handle - I did read in the "Great Eastern Cutlery" book by David Anthony that the stamp on my Northfield - Northfield (arched)/Knife Co (No CONN on stamp)- was supposedly earlier in the company history - "UN-XLD" in the stamp came later on and I think around 1876 whereas Northfield started in 1858. A few Imperials with chains and 1 Hammer brand. The 2blade with the card and badge is the Hammer brand. The one Deputy Sheriffs knife that is a little faded says by Colt. Ive not seen that before.

Been some great stuff here, sure have learned a lot reading and drooling.Now that I know more will separate the ones that are in my accumulation.Will get some pics out in next few days and try tO. Keep this one going. Be safe folks

Thanks Longblade, Yes it is the IKco mark. Im thinking maybe a reference to Colt firearms company. I know what you mean on the chains to, Iam also noticing some slight differences in the chains. Perhaps they had several different vendors for the hardware.

Thanks Kerry - I agree - no doubt a reference to Colt Firearms who maybe contracted these knives from Imperial as a guess - not sure... I believe Colt did make a few knives but much different knife patterns and a later time frame - which is why I was wondering about the blade stamp.. I have also seen differences among chains and no doubt made by different sources - since they were not that complicated possibly some companies made their own chains too but that is just speculation on my part....
