All About Pocket Knives

Been carrying this Kiwi 4 for a while and really like it.



But, I recently scored this brand new Spyderco Swayback (for just a tad over half of MSRP ) which I was planning to EDC. It's a really nice knife, but at 4½" closed it's quite a bit bigger than I prefer. Since the frame is Titanium, however, it is substantially lighter weight than other folders of this size, so I'll give it a try and see if it will work in my EDC rotation.

Inspired by 19th century English Jack knives, the swayback pattern is a stylish and extremely functional cutting tool. In his latest Spyderco collaboration, renowned Polish knifemaker Marcin Slysz supercharges this classic design by rendering it with state-of-the-art materials and craftsmanship. The SwayBack's hollow-ground Wharncliffe blade is crafted from CTS-XHP stainless steel and has a handsome stonewashed finish. It is housed in an open-backed handle constructed with solid titanium scales. Both scales are beautifully crowned for comfort and the reverse-side scale forms the foundation of a sturdy Reeve Integral Lock (RIL) with a stainless steel interface. A polished stainless steel clip provides convenient carry and is reversible for left or right-side tip-up access.

The Titanium Swayback was made in Taichung, Taiwan using CTS-XHP steel (whatever that is )

QTCut5, the Swayback is a Spyderco that I have wanted to try. It looks like a great knife.

QT I like the looks of that Swayback, much different than the usual Spyderco offerings. Also like the Kiwi, the deep carry wire clip is my favorite style clip by far.
I have the para 3 lightweight on me today as usual. Lousy pic due to the sun, but the surroundings are tough to beat!

I picked up my first Spyderco about a month ago it is the Ambitious for 2 bucks it is made in China , put it is a great knife and holds an edge ,it has been in my pocket every day since purchase,

I know you're not fond of trades, jerryd, but perhaps you could persuade your cousin to do a little swap (I'm sure you know the cousin to whom I refer and the knife I would be willing to trade it for.)

I hope you have the patience to wait until he heads back North next Spring. Keep in mind that he's not much of a knife guy so don't be too disappointed if he declines on a swap or just flat out doesn't want to part with the knife.

I've been alternating between my Delicas lately. Absolutely LOVE this model...perfect blade/frame size & carry weight IMO.

I don’t always carry a knife with a pocket clip, but when I do it’s this 2.4 oz. Lightweight Para-3

Of all types of opening mechanisms on knives… assisted and manual… (levers, flipper, nicks, OTF, out the side, etc.) this is the most comfortable for me to handle and open. When I wear this one out I’ll get another.

It is sporting a new black wire spring pocket clip I put on it… to replace the silver one

That new black wire clip looks really good on the Para 3

I am not exactly sure I will post a better photo of it for an up close look. I have had it for years and years, it has a permanently attached metal pocket clip, so I believe that was one of the earlier models.

I have had several Al Mars in the past, but I had a "cash-flow" problem (too much $ flowing out of my pocket and turning into knives ) so, like a fool I let 'em go...

Not in my pocket (because it's too big for my basic EDC needs), but definitely on my office desk and possibly in my truck for whatever requires cutting, slicing and/or stabbing when I'm out of the house.
