That is interesting Jerry, I had no idea how G-10 was made - that which is on Case knives (the only I've seen/handled) is quite slick, not at all like the rougher Micarta on the Buck. In reading the link you provided I see our old friend Phenolic is related as well. OH

Buck 301, first version as built by Camillus - came this past Friday, but I couldn't open it until late this afternoon. NOS condition - I'm pretty pleased with this addition. OH

During our little excursion, over the past few days, we stopped for a short visit with my cousin in Decatur and he gave this Buck-Lite 442 to me. Easiest opening thumb stud I've ever used.

Very nice Grant - I love the heft of the Buck 110. Most of the 50th Anniversary 110's I've seen come in blister packs - don't see too many around here in the boxes. OH

Stopped by the brand new Field and Stream hunting and fishing store in the Raleigh-Durham Airport area yesterday to look around; they have a nice cutlery department with plenty of Buck Knives (Buck on the first gondola). They also have Case, but lesser amounts, and many other popular brands (Kershaw, Cold Steel, and others) and foreign oriental stuff too. I was pleased to see a nice selection of Buck's and with Buck having the primo spot in the section. OH
Ps now the Raleigh area has several Dick's, a Bass Pro Shop, a Gander Mountain, the new Field and Stream outdoor stores all open and a Cabelas under construction - wonder if all four will survive!

Getting away from the 110s for a minute, Walmart was on my list of stops yesterday. I happened to wander over to Sporting Goods

and discovered this Buck 285 BantamĀ®. It insisted on coming home with me and since it's so patriotic, I broke down and said yes. It's Made in USA and 4-3/8" closed.

It's a very nice knife, Colonel. The way it's made, it snaps open and closed as loudly as a traditional knife. On the other hand that also makes it difficult to open with the thumbstud or is that my arthritis. Lock bar is easy to depress so that's a plus. I like it.
