It's a Ranger. Pretty handy tool combo as you gain the file and all the back tools over the Huntsman which has the saw and only the leather punch, corkscrew, and hook as backside tools. I use the chisel quite a bit. Unlike the Handyman, Champion, and SwissChamp, it's still not too thick or heavy for pocket carry. Still haven't talked myself into getting one. I want a fairly recent production model, however. The newer files on ones made in the past 15 years are great--they'll file basically anything that hasn't been hardened and heat-treated, and the saw teeth on the edge of the file cut through wire, nails, and screws pretty good. . The old ones (like on yours) are chrome plated carbon steel; and basically nailfiles, but they do work; albeit not as well.

Thanks for putting a name on my knife!
I have a Huntsman and I did notice they were similar but that was as far as I could go..... LOL.

They guy had several Victorinox knives. This one drew my interest more than the others.
He also gave me the story... "I had one that had a whole lot of blades but it sold pretty quick".
I thought.... 'Yep, my luck for sure!"

Here is a neat 3 blade Victorinox with tweezers & pick. I don't know what the intended use is for this round end master blade, but it is safer for children and it spreads peanut butter or jam, etc very well, and the edge is very sharp. I see it as a good picnic knife.
Any thoughts about this style of master blade ?

Here are 3 Alox knives.
The Wenger 4 blade is 3 5/8" and i think it might be a "Soldier" pattern ?
When did Wenger stop making the Alox knives ?
The other 2 are Victorinox and also 3 5/8" and have 5 blades. The one with scissors is a recent model called "Pioneer X".
The green handle is a Pioneer i think although the hawkbill blade is less often seen and there are identical spear point blades. Not sure if this is still called a "Pioneer" ?
These are really nice knives.

Hi there,
I saw your post over on MTO but since I'm also a member here I thought I'd reply for the benefit of other AAPK members.
Your first SAK is a Pioneer X, as noted. This is a standard Pioneer plus scissors, a design that Vx brought out a couple of years ago to great fanfare. Brand new these are around 50 bucks. They are very useful tools.
The second one is a Wenger "Standard Issue," which is what Wenger called their surplus Model 1961's that they subsequently sold on the civilian market. The model 1961 was supplied as standard to members of the Swiss military from 1962 through 2008. Victorinox stopped producing it then, but Wenger carried on through 2013. There is probably a year of issue stamp on the shank of the main blade; if there isn't, then this one was made after 2008. The bail was not present on the military issued models. These are not uncommon or rare SAKs, with the exception of a few issue years where relatively fewer were made.
Although Vx still makes its civilian version of the Model 1961, which is called the Pioneer (and actually pre-dates the Model 1961), Wenger was actually bought by and incorporated into Vx in 2005. They never produced alox-scaled SAKs to quite the same extent as Vx did.
The green one is what Victorinox used to call a Harvester and now calls a Swiss Army 7 (a boring name if you ask me). Yours is a special color/edition produced by the factory-authorized modder, Swiss Bianco. The color is called Apocalypse Green and is somewhat sought after by collectors. I don't collect Swiss Bianco so I'm not sure what to tell you on value.
Unless you are eBay savvy and enjoy paying the seller's fees there, my recommendation would be to list these for sale on MTO where you will find receptive buyers, albeit generally lower prices.

My Wenger Alox has no date stamping.
Is the Wenger with scissors & nail clippers (posted top of page) a sought after item ?
And what about the plastic handle with sharp thin blade with round end, intended use ? It is a very neat knife with the saw blade as well. I've only seen a couple of these.
Your help & knowledge is much appreciated. Not many of us here are 'up' on the vast array of 'SAK's'.

Good news and bad news:
The bad news is I have no idea on your nail clipper Wenger. I simply don't know anything about this model and so can't comment. Sorry about that.
The Vx with rounded blade is also one I don't know much about, but someone over on MTO knew what it was. I don't think it's a super-rare super-valuable model, but I also don't know. The rounded blades were intended for children, for obvious safety reasons.
The good news is that I totally missed the model on your Apocalypse Green Swiss Bianco SAK there. It's not a Harvester/Swiss Army 7 at all. Rather, it is what SB called a Castaway, distinguished by the two main blades. This makes it quite a bit rarer than what I was thinking. More info over on your MTO thread....

Do you know what the red patch is on the tree for ?
I like the SAK with a saw blade the best. My SAK EDC is silver alox with spear point blade, saw & awl. The perfect knife !
