guarddog56, I can understand why that Spyderco looks freaky to you. But if you can get past its looks, it is amazingly practical. I love using it. Placing one's thumb on the back of the high hump allows for easy added pressure and control on the blade when needed. Some will find the bird's head extreme, yet it fits my hand perfectly and it is a design feature that I have long favored.

Having said all that, for many it will still look freaky.

Yes, redrider, that is a bolt action pen. It is a Tactile Turn bronze mini pen. They also come in two longer sizes. The company makes them here in Texas, just a few miles from me.
