I just picked up this little $20 Marbles scrimshawed hunter. The blade is 3 7/8"x1"x1/8". I'm very happy with this one.

I would describe the way it feels in my hand as "deft."
After looking at my invoice again I see it was less than $15.

All are stockman patterns beginning at the top, wooden handle Craftsman 95234, Schrade 899, Schrade 855 and the one I really like is the 4-inch Queen
::hmm:: .... Looks like a clear case of Stockman Syndrome!!! .... This looks like an extremely severe case... in my medical opinion... ::paranoid:: Prognosis Negative!!!

That might be a proper diagnosis. ::hmm::
I've not thought about how many Stockman pattern knives I've accumulated over the years but you may be on to something there, Doc!
One thing for sure, a "stockman" needs to be at least close to 4 inches or it doesn't feel like a usable knife. The #49 Queen and the 75 series of Case have gotten the most serious pocket time in the last decade.
On the other hand, large trappers and folding hunters have been known to create conditions very similar to the dreaded Stockman Syndrome. ::nod::

Good looking blade, you practically stole it for that price. I like the piece of antler next to the finger guard, would that be moose tine to go with the scrimshaw? Cool piece, congrats. ::tu:: ::tu::

If I had to guess I would most likely "stagbone."

I agree 100% with you T.F.; "One thing for sure, a "stockman" needs to be at least close to 4 inches or it doesn't feel like a usable knife"... I just ordered a new purple bone case stockman, a small one... I love the bone... but the knife just doesn't feel right... ::paranoid:: ... just too small, ::paranoid:: ... ::hmm:: a big "Ol stockman is the way to go!!! (and probably better for your over all mental heath... ::paranoid:: in my medical opinion ::paranoid:: ...)

I just snagged this one yesterday - not sure what brand it is, but I think I liked it; I obviously liked it enough to buy it - right.

Here's another one that came in the lot of knives I acquired last week. It's lived a rough life. It had serious damage, gobs of some hard pink/purple colored substance (maybe nail polish?) all over it, etc. I almost just put it in the discard pile, but decided to clean it up the best I could (not easy) and keep it. Surprisingly, the blade is tight with good snap. The scale on the other side is the same condition as the one you see.
I've been searching but can't find this particular "script" tang stamp -- Prov Cuty Co / Prov RI. I assume it's Providence Cutlery Co, Providence RI, started in the 19-teens, sold in 1925, kept operating, etc.
I'm curious if anyone can help date this knife, or provide any other info based on this tang stamp. Thanks.

That pattern along with that blade grind add up to my kindda knife. ::groove::
The shield is most interesting too, as-a-matter-of-fact, we have a member here, Jeepergeo, who has that image that's on the shield as their avatar!
Nice little folder, man!

This 8 1/2" somewhat more traditional RPK, has a hard to see in my pictures, very unique and even harder to explain, bolster blade release system, that is so unusual that I don't even know what to call it! It even seconds as the safety cuz the spot you see below the button is not a safety, it's a screw securing the wooden cover. Nice n' rustic looking, great action!

WIN_20230808_17_19_51_Pro.jpg
Then there is this big ole' 14" BO/BC made in Pakistan stiletto, that looks pretty awesome, but is actually a POS that should be found in every collectors knives to serve as a memory to never buy one of these again. And when I say "big ole'", I'm talkin' Vallachi Papers castration scene, big!
WIN_20231211_15_57_03_Pro.jpg
WIN_20231211_15_56_32_Pro.jpg
That brings us to this 8 1/2" Medteh leverlock from Russia featuring double bolsters, Walnut covers, and very strong LO/LC action. This one knife alone makes up for the disappointing piece posted right above it!
WIN_20231205_12_43_54_Pro.jpg
WIN_20231205_12_43_17_Pro.jpg
And finally, another model from Medteh and it's also an 8 1/2"--- 9" with the bale stiletto, only it's a single-front swivel-bolster release model that oozes quality, and if it's predecessor "makes up for" this knife definitely sweetens the deal! IMHO, this brand of autos are some of the best on the market but have become few and far between!

The 2nd knife is a monster, Kerry, but the others are just standard 8-9'er's so it must be smaller hands! lol!
I'm finding that the older I get the smaller lots of stuff is getting, including....yep, you guessed it, that too! ::facepalm::

Hey thanks, Gordy, it's good hearing from you! ::handshake::
That P-stani knife is actually well made, but I don't think the makers truly understand how an automatic knife works cuz the mechanics are poorly done, and it's a shame. ::facepalm::

Most recent addition. Assist opening, linerlock, pocket clip.
Opens like a speedsafe, solid lockup. Lock is a little tricky to release.
Not bad for the money
