It’s an Eagle Lockback, honey jigged bone, AUS8 blade. Price was too good to be true for an Al Mar. Site I purchased it from didn’t show the country of origin. In the back of my mind I was thinking China as I’ve Never seen an Al Mar for $56. I thought why not? If it bears the name Al Mar it has to be a quality knife.
I was right. It was made in China and it’s great quality. Extremely tight tolerances.
And whut-up with all you folks who think that just because I live in Canada I know every little detail about the entire country, eh? lol, just in case!

The Canadian GDP growth is projected to be as follows:
According to TD Economics, following an economic slowdown in 2024 and subsequent rebound in 2025 and 2026, long-term Canadian GDP growth is expected to stabilize around 1.7% annually. Forbes reported that Canada’s economic growth is projected to be 1.5% in 2024.
The official Canadian government budget for 2023 also projects a rebound to 1.5% in 2024.

1- two beat-up and rusty Imperial Camp Kings.
2- a Boker Stockman in Butter & Molasses, with a punch blade. The main is slightly tipped and wobbly.
3- a Wards Trapper with Camo scales, probably celluloid. The main has been tipped and badly reprofiled.
4- a Kent with plastic handles and missing tipped bolsters. The blades are good, so I may remove all the bolsters and put solid handles with Birdseye rivets, or something.
5- a Boker electrician's knife with stiff blades.


All came in the Buck tin, which may be handy knife storage. My cigar boxes are full.
But then there was also this cool toy by Mattel, probably dating back to the 50's or 60's:

It looks like a knife, complete with a (damaged) plastic blade.

But then the handles fold down, and it is a Pocket Shot cap gun!

The hammer does not fold out, so the trigger stays loose. It is probably not repairable, but I am going to oil it up anyway just to see if it will work loose. I just happen to have a couple paper rolls of old caps, just waiting to make me feel like a kid again!

Beautiful covers. I guess almost all knife makers are going to China these days. Higher profits when they use an unlimited supply of people working 18 hour days in sweat shops for next to nothing.
Most of the quality American knife makers have gone out of business. It’s a shame.
BTW, you being Canadian, what can you tell me about Grohmann knives? I’ve admired one of their folders but never seen one in person. Are they any good ? Made in Nova Scotia if I’m not mistaken.

That's an interesting shape. If it fits the hand and holds an edge you're in business! Little fancy for Starvation Plantation.

Here's one a bit more traditional but still an unusual configuration, a #62 Queen. The #62s are 5.25" single spay bladed fruit/sausage lookin' knife.003.JPG006.JPG

This is my second #62, the first was listed as an unknown maker got it for 15 bucks, this one was $8.99 + shipping. As the first, this one is also in the no stamp years 1961-1971. "No stamp" was a labor-saving measure when Queen was owned or under the control of Servotronics according to my remembrance, which might not be accurate. +008.JPG
