Kevin, thanks ... I remember those - they were from my "pointy" phase - LOL. The ratcliffe's I've done more recently were a bit shorter and curvier by comparison --->

Looking back at those, I think I actually prefer those longer, pointer wharnies ::tu::
I agree, John... I have some of your mini-T mods with the shorter Wharncliffe blades that look great, but I think the longer blade looks better on the muskrat.

I think that the old Schrades had the best carbon steel of any knives. I cannot define exactly what I prefer about the steel, but I do prefer it.
Mel - this is my first foray into the older USA Schrades ... from what I've seen so far, this one really does seem to get "sticky" sharp & cut better than I expected. Like you say, it may be the carbon steel they used back then ...
You guys may recall that Ivoryman was a huge fan of the old Schrade carbon steel, too. Once he "discovered" it he couldn't stop crowing about how well it took an edge with very little effort and how easily it went right back to shaving sharp with just a few passes over a leather strop....no touching up with a stone necessary.

That China made Kizer I posted earlier today derailed my plan to showcase some of my USA made Case 07Ws and I just couldn't allow Wharncliffe Wednesday week #19 to close down without getting things back on track. This knife is especially apropos since we seem to be seeing a number of knives that have changed hands from one member to another and this 6107W came to me courtesy of my good friend and fellow Wharncliffe connoisseur in the great state of Indiana.

When faced with certain death by Wharncliffe overload (07W OD in medical parlance), the only known antidote is a stiff shot of 207WHSS 1st Issue first thing in the morning, or "Wharn of the dog" as it's known colloquially in folk medicine ::woot::

What a super fantastic Wharncliffe Wednesday week #20! Nice showing, everyone! ::tu::

Mel, staying true and keeping it authentic with another "true" Wharncliffe in both blade and body. Respect :) I haven't ever seen a H&R like yours before.....it's a beauty. I can't tell for sure from the pic, but is that a half-.....um, I mean, a two-blade Whittler? :wink:

Chickenman, welcome to the BYOW party! Fabulous Tunas, well played, sir ::tu:: Hope to see you 'round here next week.....I know you must have more Wharnies in that massive pile of yours ::nod:: Don't be holding back on us now that you've given us a teaser taste ::suspense::

John, cool 07W faves 8) I like your style. Seeing your Yellow Bone 1st Issue 207WHSS reminded me that the photo I posted earlier of my complete 207WHSS set is actually the first 207WHSS set I completed. After I had accumulated all ten knives in the set, I noticed that only one had a serial number bolster stamp. For the record, I've never been too interested in serial numbers on knives, but with this particular 1st Issue Mini Trapper model I thought it would be cool if I could collect a complete set of serial numbered knives. Of course, I knew that the odds of getting all matching serial numbers were astronomical and most likely impossible. But, I did manage to get serial numbers on half the knives (0 Reds, both Blues, and one of each of the others) before OCD Mini-T Monkey got bored with the effort and focused his attention on a different yet equally trivial and pointless pursuit. :lol:

To officially close out WW w20, here is my current Case 207WHSS 1st Issue Mini Trapper collection (photo layout inspired by Kevin ::mdm:: )

HAPPY THANKSGIVING TO ALL ::ds::

Another Wonderful Wharncliffe Wednesday (WWW) in the books.
Great show redrider, John, Mel, chickenman, and that last layout of your 1st Issues is Spectacular, Q! ::tu:: ::tu:: ::tu::
After seeing chickenman's beautiful Tuna Valleys and that final layout by Q, I'm tempted to dig one out from the Phoenix Jack archives, but that one will have to wait for another week.
Happy Thanksgiving Fellow Knifers!

Beautiful pair of 07Ws, John. Say, do any of you fellows like Case knives?

Chickenman - nice Tuna Valley swaybacks. I especially like the stag knife.

I agree that it was another good showing this Wharncliffe Wednesday. That is a beautiful set of matching Mini Trappers to end the day.

I know it is Thursday now. But here is a photo to answer your question about my H&R.

Mahalo, Mel ::handshake::

I thought your H&R probably was a Whittler because I've never seen a 2-blade H&R Whittler; I rather suspect they never made such a beast ::undecided:: but I'm so often surprised at all the things I see and learn on AAPK, I just had to ask.

Even though it's Thursday, anyone using a Wharncliffe to carve a turkey or eat your Thanksgiving meal today, please feel free to post a pic of it in this thread; I'd love to see it ::nod:: ::tu:: :D

Once again we have some awesome hump day Wharnies showing up and showing off ::tu::

After showing my 207WHSS collection last Wednesday it occurred to me that you really don't see many serrated Wharnies ::hmm:: Wonder why that is ::shrug:: A serrated Wharn is like having a little rip saw in your pocket....very handy for myriad applications.

Here's my only other knife with a serrated Wharncliffe blade: Case 1st Issue 240WHSS Dogleg Trapper that glennbad modified with his famous gnarly amber stag and personal bolster stamp. Definitely one of the crown jewels of my collection :D
