Interesting... and the knife looks in a very minty condition as far as patina/pitting etc.. etc... aging...?
yet... I think for sure the guy is wrong about "Vietnam era", but was this type of knife made in say in 1950?

Very interesting!
This knife does not look like a fake. And it has a blade that could not be moved from another model with the mechanism still working. Thus, I will assume that this is a real MC-1 knife. Given that this knife has always had a stainless steel blade, with perfect storage it could have been as well preserved as shown in the photos. The perfect #S1760 knives from 1958-1960 that we saw here can be an example.
Now the fun part (for me). Since we don't have clear timelines for the transition from the short line tang stamp to the long line, this knife tells me that the short line existed until at least 1958. And even that's not all. My records indicate that Camillus has been making MC-1 knives since 1959 (I do not remember the source of this information and am trying to find it, although it was most likely Tom Williams). And if my information is true, then the time interval of the short line definitely reaches 1959.

This short line Camillus 23 came in today. Appears to be in good condition. Except for some discoloration on the tip of the pen blade. Both blades have good snap

This pocket knife arrived very recently in a group or lot of pocket knives that I bought. This is NOT the particular pocket knife that I bought the group or lot for. But, I was quite pleased when I found it and it now becomes my most recent addition to this topic or thread and to my general CAMILLUS pocket knife collection. It is a CAMILLUS, pattern 64, short line, two blades, one tool (awl/punch), two tang stamps, 3 3/8" closed, pocket knife. The tang stamp reads "CAMILLUS - NEW YORK - USA" and the other side tang stamp reads "64" Overall, it is in GOOD+ condition. I cleaned it up, took some pictures and here it is.

Added this bone covered 40 short line to the Short line pile (lighter colored bone ) . The blades have some loss but are tight and nice half stops. This one will get put away and will carry the one with the patina now and then . There’s something about carrying one of these old 1940 s /50 s era knives . They sharpen and hold a edge well and just feel nice to tote around.
Think this puts me about half way on the trek for one of each short line . It’s getting hard to find some ! Especially in decent condition or better .
