That’s the second Washington Jack I’ve seen crack 4 figures in the past month. I don’t personally see the attraction, but obviously SOMEONE is a big fan.

I wonder if the guy who won the Washington Harness Jack for $1025 is in on bidding for this Washington jack ?

Hard to say since eBay disguises the identity of the bidders. But the "winner" of the previous Washington Jack (the one that sold for $1025) had 165 transactions, and there is a current bidder on this WJ with 168 transactions, so it could be the same guy (but so far his highest bid is "only" $870).

Always interesting to watch an auction for Northwoods as they often seem to bring even higher prices than GEC branded knives.

Yes, people will pay more for the "Northwoods" branding. I started this thread to show auctions for GEC made knives that resulted in very high prices.
Now what would be "of Note" are GEC knives that sell 'low' like close to original price.
If you spot any GEC auctions which ended with a lower than usual price please post a link, or picture, even better. I am expecting a gradual downward trend in prices. Note my predictions are often wrong. Will prices be somewhat lower in 6 months time, March 2022 ?

I understand what you are saying, Roland, i.e., unusually high prices as well as lower-than-expected prices for GEC knives may both be considered "as note."

I thought Northwoods were made by GEC--at least in the years following the Gladstone Northwoods (which I thought were made by Queen). Am I mistaken in that belief?

As far as "of note"...I guess I was under the impression (perhaps mistakenly) that ANY knives made by GEC, regardless of other brand names used on the knives themselves (such as "Northwoods"), would qualify for this thread. If that is incorrect or caused any confusion, I sincerely apologize. Also, somehow I got the impression that this thread was intended to show the (often) ridiculously high prices that GEC knives have been selling for compared to those "which ended with a lower than usual price".

rather than just saying "GEC knives". To me, if GEC made it, then it is a GEC knife regardless of how it might be branded.
Yes, the 2 Northwoods you show are GEC made knives. It is the older Northwoods from when Dave Shirley owned the brand name that were made by Queen. Derrick Bohn bought the rights to the Northwoods brand in 2007 and only used GEC to make 'his' Northwoods knives.

680$ 2015 Barlow

Wow, $680 is a lot of money for that knife. The handles are said to be "Ebony" but they are brown, not black which to me indicates a low grade of ebony. I would value this one at $250 max.

A year or so ago i would have said that the seller is crazy asking $1300 for a GEC knife. But now it is the buyers who have become 'crazy'.
Even 50% of asking price, i.e. $650 is a high price.
The only explanation i can see is that for some people, GEC's have become an addiction. Just as with drug addiction when you are craving your 'fix' you will pay however much you have to to get it.
I really like GEC knives but am grateful that i am not addicted to them.

Couple more GEC made Northwoods that recently sold at auction (not BIN), but the starting prices were already quite high to begin with.

Mammoth Presidential: $611.01 (min opening bid: $325)

Here's one that looks interesting. Although the Mammoth on this Michigan Jack isn't the best I've ever seen, it's not the worst either.

$1400 i am sure is a new record and beats the previous high by a few hundred dollars.
I sold my ivory Esky Zulu for about 1/3'rd that price.
I really don't understand why some people are so driven to get these knives. Although for sure GEC will not ever be making any more knives with mammoth or ivory handles, so the supply will remain limited.

I also looked at it and received an offer to buy it for only $1500.
These very high prices for mammoth handled GEC made knives is difficult to understand. I have a custom knife made by Todd Davison with truly fine mammoth handles posted for sale for $500 and no one wants it. This suggests the high GEC prices are due to wanting to win the competition rather than being about the knife itself.

Roland I joined and followed a couple of Northwoods groups on Facebook for a while and I would have to say It's really become an obcession for a lot of people to own the Northwoods Brand. It's more of a fashion statement these days.
