Roger, thanks for clarifying. I definitely see the Miller Bros lineage in the bone jigging and color of your friend's knife - it's magnificent example! It certainly feel at home in the etched M&G wing of your museum. :)

My knife is 4 1/4". I don't have any Ulster knives to compare look and feel. The large cigar pattern is one of my favorites.

Jerry I'm just speculating on yours being an Ulster. Most of the companies of that era made a big cigar including Miller Brothers. But from the different catalogs I have makes me believe it is not Miller made.
M & G catalogs showed some Miller Brothers patterns well after they went out of business, like the Colorado Stockman.

Between the fit and finish and the price, I think they're knock-offs.

ken98k: I m very interested in this Swingguards. Would be great help if you can measure the exact lenght of the blade.
Once from tip to front of guard and second from tip to front of bolster.

I like this olive color pattern with pinched bolsters - so far I've found a 90 & 32 ... best part is both have really aggressive deep jigging:

In 1980 my wife gave me a Western folder for my 30th birthday.
Other than scratching it up trying to sharpen it, I hardly used it and put it away.
Since I've always wanted a replacement/backup for all the reasons we here tell ourselves, I finally got one some 37 years later.
The original is a "C", 1979. The latest, a "D" with a leather sheath.

I'm happy. :)

Because of the considerable passage of years, to match that pair is something very special. Well done sir. ::tu::

I like that Joe. Kind of a lizard skin effect. Cool.

Two of my favorite patterns, Camillus 14 & 18 in Indian Stag Delrin®

Thanks Joe. I didn't even notice I had that match-up until I went to put the #14 away. I'm really hooked on the serpentine jacks.

Nice handles Joe! ::tu::
I have a Camillus with the same sort of handle.
I haven't figured out what it is, except perhaps some special treatment on celluloid, but it appears to be very stable.

This seems to be an unusual pattern.
Of course mine are shell handles.
