That piece you have in your hand is quality!

I think for stag its personal preference. Of course you’re going to look for the obvious, like cracks and fishers (natural growth cracks) but other than that the "quality" is going to be in the eye of the beholder. Whether it's dark, light, burnt, smooth, gnarly, it’s what catches your eye. I think most prefer it on the dark side and the gnarly the better.

They grade stag with words like premium, select, choice, pith free. Supply and demand makes the gnarly dark pith free stuff more expensive, so I guess the premium grade is the quality stuff. I like almost all stag, except for the smooth (sanded smooth) Yuk!

Jim Behring makes use of the entire antler on his knives. Here is one using the crown portion for a butt cup. It fits in the hand very well and has a nice look.

Arrived today, been watching for one for a few years that would stay within budget limits. A bit dressier model than my EDC 78 22087!

Just adding to the stag...............this one is a Red Stag Queen Classic swing guard lockback.

I forgot all about this little Jack pattern I've been carrying around the house. It's a fine little knife, IMO.

Sweet Northwoods there El Lobo!


Here is a knife I have been hunting for awhile. Shes a Queen Classic Mountain man with awesome stag, this was quite a find for me.

Here is a "PATENTED" stag double lockback folder I found in one of my cigar boxes.
It would make a excellent carry knife if organic handles would hold up and I do want to mess these up.
Looks to be brushed stainless blades.
It is a hand full, thicker than a USA quarter dollar, 4 1/2 inches closed.

Personally, I perfer some type of treated wood or plastic for use.
I guess this is one of those put back knives.

IIRC.......Camillus released this same knife with an etch and wooden box as their 100 year anniversary knife a few years back.

She locks up tight, no wobble, no slop. As good as Queen or Case anyday! They use great stag, and finish out nicely. My only gripe so far is that there is no way to date them. Being this is only their second year (I think) maybe that is in the works.

Well the drool factor continues.. I like that stag fixed blade and Northwoods, very nice..

I have been eye balling the swinguard and congress, they are incredibly sweet knives and remind me of the Case 64-69 series era knives. I agree though that no date may confuse folks in the future from a collecting standpoint..Then again I stay confused so what the heck..

I'm watching one on ebay a 1996 (it's not a club knife) it looks to be in good shape, although I've had to return several "mint" knives lately. I guess I'll have to start writing the sellers and asking if it's "as new" because many seem to get confused with the mint term.

Sounds like a fair trade to me Sunburst, although we haven't seen the Texas knife!

Charlie it's a large stamp 5375 Stockman. The large stamp is more desirable and should be worth a few more bucks. The 75 is the crème d la crème of the stockman, at 4 5/16" long closed it's also the largest. All nickel silver, no brass on these babies.

I'll post a small stamp 75 so you can see the difference.
