[quote="AussieBosun"]Jerry , I don't know any Aussies that drink Fosters. Toohey's Extra Dry , Carlton Draught and XXXX seem to the most popular beer's in Oz although I can see whole new discussion on the matter

........

Ahhh, Castlemain XXXX, I loved it, but alas, I cannot find it here any more. The last I got was a case of 4Xs and a case of Victoria Bitter from a Kiwi neighbo(u)r. They moved to Denver a few years back, but I can certainly recall the many times we got pissed together!
Regards,
Russell

My Latest Schrade USA is this 708 pen.
I already have one with the Schrade over USA708 tang.
This one has Schrade over USA and 708 is in larger
numerals on back tang of clip.
If anyone can fill me in on tang change dating I'd appreciate it.
I already had won a Case 11031SH from the 708 seller
so this one rode along for free.
Auction ended past midnite so no other bids.

Just a guess, but if it isn't a Schrade Walden, then I would say the one with the model number on the obverse tang was made shortly after the name change to Schrade from Schrade Walden; say 1973-1975 or somewhere in there.
Maybe Eric or someone else knows for sure.

That 708 has a rare stamping IMO, with the pattern on the back, and not having SCHRADE WALDEN or SCHRADE NY USA on the front. Not sure I've seen one like that...
I have to say though, I've never seen an open stock SCHRADE NY USA 2 3/4" knife period. The 108OT did have some stamped like that, with a three lined stamp, and the pattern number on the front.

This is my latest Schrade; made in 1966 for Buck Knives.
I have some of the later Schrade made modles of the Buck 301.
However this is the first modle Schrade made... Ken

KG - you need to add your pictures to the Buck 301 thread in the AAPK Buck sub-forum as well - be nice to compare with pictures of all the variations there. Nice bolsters too!

KG, that's first Schrade made Buck eh?
Slantered bolsters are a nice touch.
Mike, those are a good toting size.
$10 and someone already has it
broken in & ready to go.
Here's my latest Schrade and it is a late late USA Schrade.
2004 7OTX came in a relabeled 6OTX box.
For toting, I'd recommend the SW-7 instead because of
lighter weight, better clip function, easier blade deployment
and more ergonomic zytel handle.
Other than that plus the difference in OAL I'd say the two
are virtually identical.

Schrade was still using that old blade stamping in the mid 1980's
Hi woseyjales,

this is my late 7OTX in a Display. I also have the 6OTX.
I have 95% of all the late knives Schrade sold between 2000 and the close down.
Not many Schrade collectors have collected them - They are now very hard to find.

Yep, that's one reason I got the USA 7OTX,
most all of those tack tickle models are Schraylors.
Trying to find the USA marked ones about like
looking for a needle in a stack of rice cakes.
I don't plan on acquiring as many of them as you have.
Only other Xtimer in the Schrade corral is 24OTX pen.

Like those complimentary marked models, only have one.
Here's one that seems more scarce than the complimentary.
Orgill anniversary.
What tickles me is the banner on the blade is missing the 2
small vertical lines to complete the folds.
Apparently noone caught it. OOPS

That is the first time I have seen one of those 24OTX knives out of the box.
I have never taken my one out of its’ box to look at it – it’s on top of the two 104OTs.
The XT2B is a knife I like too…
I will have my Display case finished soon, I will be able to house most of my collection in that one display. I could sit in it with a friend and there would still be room for knives...Ken

KG, quite a stockpile you have there.
May have the Aussie SchradeUSA market cornered.
I recommend opening each knife box at least once.
Only way to be sure right knife is enclosed and
the shield ain't out of plumb.
If you're real careful, dont bend the flap corners,
I doubt E1 other than the Shadow, the Thin Man
or Columbo could detect it.

So Solly, showing my ignorance again.
Meant as a compliment to KG, didn't mean to tip over
anyone elses totem pole.
In my own defense I would like to point out each room
has 4 corners so KG can have 1 and there would still
be 3 left for the other AusSchradeaholics to divy up.
TR, not sure what you mean by Mr. Monk is 'on it'
but I sure ain't going to hang around to find out.
I bruise & break real easy ya know.
Not my latest but may be a good diversion while i make my escape.

If I could get my pics to turn out like
yours WJ I would trade a few SCHRADE'S for it.
They are a credit to you.
Thanks for showing them.
Gary.

Yes, WJ, you are a mighty fine photog! I have never seen an H-15 (?) with a blade you could see yourself in; did you polish that puppy up? Looks good. By the way, my earlier comments were only meant to be funny. By the time one is as old as I am, the humor begins to get a little obscure, probably.

TY gents for the kind comments.
Gary I started taking knife pics about 2006.
No real photog experience before that.
First pics were inside so naturally pic didn't
look like the actual knives. I kept changing
one thing then another until image did look
real. First thing was a tripod to steady camera
and allow minute adjustments to fine tune angles,
reflections, etc. Next big break was take 'em
outside preferably with overcast or cloud cover.
Also found early morning light or late afternoon
when sun is lower in the sky reduces glare on
metal parts and seems to provide truest colors.
Close as possible with all the knife in frame
provides most detail. Also shows any blemishes,
smudges so knife prep became more important.
Take 12-24 pics, load best 4 into photobucket
then delete the rest. (j/k)
Not a fancy camera either. Koduck CX7430
one step above base model at the time w/4
megapixels instead of 3.
Don't think they make it anymore.
I haven't been able to take tang or shield
closeups ever since the camera's factory
installed smoke leaked out a few years ago.
Now you know as much as I do about taking
pictures. You skip right passed the 6 month
trial & error phase.
TR, no prob-your post was taken as kidding.
But then again even some of the serious
posts sound funny to me.
As for the Hunter Bowie it had some blade scratches
when I got it. Muskrat man was kind enough to polish
them out while he rehandled a folder for me.
Not only does it look better w/o scratches, shiny blade
handy for signaling rescue planes when lost.

Recently recieved this 61ot from Aimus.
It is rock solid. Full blades. Hard snap on all three. It's been in the RFP since I got it. She's a keeper for sure.
THANKS AIMUS
