Here's a most recent pic of my 5 month old blue heeler, Sadie, when we were in the Smokies. Sharp as a tack, & ready to rock & roll at a moments notice. She's been an awesome dog to say the least.

i love all the dogs and animals i see here. to me an animal is so much more trustworthy than humans. even when you get bit, there is always a just and understandable reason for it.
here are two of the seven pups at 30 days old. don't let the cute and innocent looks fool ya, they are little demons in disguise with a full compliment of needle sharp teeth
they are fully weaned from mom now and taking all the proper meds. they have the run in part of our basement that is puppyproof and very warm with a wood burner. we have newspapers spread for them at opposing corners of the basement room, and although they do use them for potty some of the time, the rest of the time is spent making graffitti out of them. it takes me an hour to clean after them and feed em all. if i didn't hold them while they ate my specially prepared food, it would also be all over them and the floor. what a chore. i would recommend it to everyone who loves animals.

Great lookin pups Chet! Dogs are the coolest! Pups are pretty hard to take care of - a lot of work I have been there. All I have to do now for the most part is feed and pick up about 2 lbs of poop a day, lol.

Thanks QS! ::tu:: Man, it'd be nice. She sure know how to strike a pose though. I'm hoping to get her on some video once she's dialed-in on this frisbee fetchin. She's got the agility to go around like nothing else on four feet.

bret i am so sorry for your loss. we all know how hard that can be for you and your family.
i always jumped right in and got another canine friend even though my wife always said no. it is amazing how theraputic a new pup can be.

too bad we did'nt live closer to each other as i have seven ready to go mar 22nd. to help soften your heartache and add to your spring again. of course they are aussies and need plenty of attention and excerise. good luck on whatever new addition you make for your family.

Thanks Chet. I bet those dogs are smart too. I would like to get another Lab, small, hunting dog like they were long ago, not one of the donkey sized pets they breed today. I would rather have a 70# dog in the canoe with me than a 120# one! I need a pet, that will hunt ducks in the water, and pheasants in the field, as well as grouse in the woods. I will find the right one, one of these days.

Got my 7 week old English Springer Spaniel puppy home yesterday and she is the happiest puppy I've ever had. I have two 8 year old female springers and they accepted her as soon as she came in the house. Now the fun begins with training and chewing. Her teeth are like little needles and she likes to chew on anything including me. Molly is my 5th springer and I'm partial to them since they are so laid back and love being around people. Molly is a tri-color roan with heavy ticking.

Chet, those pups are adorable!

Nice Pups Gents. Love seeing all those pups. Do not envy you in the "dark side" of the puppy phase though as you all stated. Take the good with the bad though!

Very sorry for your loss Bret! Had a brief maybe cancer scare this week with my chocolate lab and a huge hard lump on her driver's side rear rib cage that appeared over a two week period. Thank God, no issue. She is a 90# Chocolate named Nikki. 6 years old. Solid muscle but could lose a couple pounds, certainly not fat or overwieght. Not a perfect dog, not a perfect trainer myself either but we love each other and have fun. Haven't tried the canoe yet but she does all I need her to do and we have fun at it.

My other dog, Buddy, is currently pretty jacked up. 90# mutt, all muscle, 4 years old. The ultimate guard dog. He keeps scaling the 5 foot fence for percieved threats or to chase other dogs out, protect family and property, whatever. 3 years of doing this have taken a toll on his joints recently. Think it his wrist on one front leg. Kinda like us humans, he knows it is going to hurt but he does it anyway. Just what he does. Pretty ominus to a would be intruder/visitor for him to come flying out of his pen to do his job. Big pen but he likes to roam and perform his duties but never off the property. Gotta figure something out there.

Anyway, here is my cat...

My sister was on a wildlife refuge in India last week and snapped this pic from 30 yards away. A blue eyed Bengal Tiger. Now that's the ultimate guard kitty. Looks pissed!

Regards All. Nice critters. Keep showing them. Jerry

here is the latest on the pups at 44 days of age. the solo shot is of the smallest who we appropriately called runt. he left today for his new home ::teary_eyes:: we miss him already and wish him all the joy in the world.
the other six didn't know if they were ready to venture out in the great big world yet, but curiosity and inquisitiveness is getting the better of them.

Finally getting around to doing this; in alphabetical order so I don't get in trouble if they ever find out. . . . .

First up is C. She had to check out the camera, and I couldn't resist taking the shot. She's a good pup, though getting a bit stiff in the joints at age 9 or so. German shepherd, of course.
6986

Next is Tay. She still thinks she's a puppy, even though she is nigh 11 years old. She's retired breeding stock; the second time she came back here to visit I asked to keep her. She is a show-line Australian shepherd. She tends to use my foot for a pillow when she naps, and look up at me periodically.
6987

And then there is Z . . . . German shepherd again, from different lines than C. Very wired, very focused, very energetic. That heater hose she is holding is one of her favorite toys; we play fetch games that have been known to go on for hours. In this pic she was proudly taking a break after about 50 retrieves (we have to stop periodically so my arm can recover).

Thanks guys. I just got a note saying that since I mentioned back in December that each of my dogs has a knife (but only one!), I should say who has what.

C has a WWII-era scout knife that has seen better years. Z has a Randall #1 (somewhere I have puppy-pictures of her guarding it). Tay hasn't selected one yet, but is very fond of the chef's knife I use to cut training treats.
