The term "Old World Craftsmanship" was used in advertising to suggest great care and skill. It was sometimes even applied to U.S. made products. Today much of the old world has disappeared and along with it much of its touted craftsmanship.
Nevertheless, pockets of that rare quality persist into the 21st century and I offer this BD as an example.

I will repeat these photos in the BD thread.

Your Bull Dog is a fine looking knife in it's own right, but that stag is something special!
Beautiful knife, period!

The folding hunter with the Abalone handles is an eye catcher, Kim! Guess that one would have to be a safe queen, it's too pretty to go to the deer woods. ::nod::
Several years ago someone here on AAPK bombed me with a RoughRider trapper because I had said something about not being a fan of RR/China made knives. The donor used the username, "Anonymous". I still don't care a great deal for any of the China made stuff but there is no denying there are some pretty well made knives on the market from the communist country. The trapper I was bombed with skinned and did most of the the boning of a deer without touching a whet rock, very sharp and durable (held its' edge). All that to say I saw 3 RoughRyder knives for sale a few days ago that I bid on. They cost me $8.66 each including shipping. All still NIB:

The one marked Old Southwest (RR1751) is kinda' pretty, the sowbelly (RR1951) has really dark blue handle and the TuffStag Barlow(2369) would be okay if you could open the main blade. It falls too deep behind the secondary pen, can't get to the nail nick. :(
There's an old USA made Queen in my pocket as I made this post.

That's a great score, TF, I wish I could find knives under ten bucks!
I own the Southwest series Dr.'s knife and it's as attractive as your model, they all are actually from that series.
I'm seriously liking that deep blue on your sowbelly, very nice!
$8.66 knives, who'd a thunk it!

Marco, thanks for the comment.

treefarmer, I would love to have nothing but American made stuff (excepting German Bulldogs) but most everything around here is China made or has China parts from computers to TVs etc. etc. Concerning RRs, they are, as you indicate, functional, inexpensive, and they do liven up a collection.

I traded for this Sheffied-made H.M. slater single blade jack knife. It is my first Sheffield knife!
It is well made, and the blade is very snappy.

The pull is just about right on this one - a bit stiff, but certainly not a nail breaker.

I'm not one for the shape of the "Diana", but if you like it that's all that matters. ::huff::
How is the action on the CZ knives with the bolster release? ::shrug:: I lost one to Customs, so I neve got to find out! ::facepalm::

I have handled and fired a "Diana", Kim, but I just don't find them attractive or that they display exceptional action, and with all the other choices I have along with the fact I live in a free country I get to do that, so there! ::huff:: lol!
"Now wouldn't it be a real drag if we were all the same"!-Savoy Brown/the 70's!

I figured the C Z's would be nice, too bad I can't experience them til I find a new shipping method. ::doh::
The dark ebony was my choice too!

Beautiful knives each and everyone. What a great find ! I especially favor the clasp knife but all are beautiful. Wood covers add character, especially when the wood is as beautiful as it is on those.

The top knife of each is what I used for the pattern for the McAlevy custon fixed blades. A Winchester Fishtail for the personal steak knife and the Moki kronos for the gents EDC.
I am quite satisfied with the results.

Been fishin' in the bay again, this time we found what appears to be an unsharpened (factory edge) 881 Schrade. I used an 881 for years and thought I might just try carrying another one.
Need to polish the bolsters and finish putting a good edge on the blades.

This size stockman, no matter the make, is just a very practical knife for my needs.

The used-up knife was bought in the mid '70s, even lost for a year in the woods. Slight differences mainly the pulls.
