Thanks … I’ve learned since then that Monroe apparently sold these for a bunch of years. Handy that they put the year on them!
Yes that is handy. ::nod:: I like knives from Hardware stores, knives from the 70's & knives from Camillus so that one checks a number of boxes. ::nod:: ::tu:: ::super_happy::
Same here … FYI, found it on a certain juggernaut auction site, and it appeared they had more of them, if you’re looking.
Thanks for the Info ::handshake:: but I'm pretty broke for the rest of the month & international purchasing can be a bit complicated. ::nod::

Looks like Monroe made little knives like these from at least the 50s until the late 80s! Could have a whole collection just of these.
Would be a very cool collection IMO. ::nod:: ::super_happy:: But you'd have to invest a few dollars & some change.

Sorry to hear on both counts. When I sell stuff, I sometimes get questions from abroad, and I’m always sorry I can’t be of more help. Crazy laws all over the place.

Yea I know. I still have one "Ace in the hole" though, my Mom lives in MD so I sometimes have things mailed to her & then she sends em to me a 1/2 year latter. Just curious, ::dang:: did they have one from 1972? ::shrug:: ::dang::

That’s a beauty Tom. Nice stag on that one. The two tang stamps on that aren’t that unusual. FnR knives made knives for a lot of others. They did a lot of club knives with blade etches on them instead of tang stamps too. I tried to buy a collection of FnR that were made for Peterbuilt knife collector’s down in Tennessee once, but couldn’t get together on price. Someone will probably know more about Lackawanna and come along.
It’s a beautiful knife, enjoy.

TPK wrote: Sun Feb 19, 2023 8:00 am My newest addition is a curious find. Spent more than I should or normally do but I had to find out more about it. It was listed on the Bay as a Fight'n Rooster Solingen but the pictures the seller had posted of it only showed a Lackawanna Cutlery Co tang stamp. ::hmm:: ::shrug:: This really got me curious about it so I sent a message to the seller asking him to clarify that for me. Which he did not do. ::tease:: So to find out more about it, I had to buy it. Yes, "Curiosity killed the cat." so to speak.

Anyways, the answer to the question at hand ✋ is..., it has two tang stamps. One Fight'n Rooster Solingen stamp on one of the secondary blades & a Lackawanna Cutlery Co tang stamp on the main blade. ::nod::

So what does this mean? ::shrug:: Your guess is as good as mine but my guess is that Fight'n Rooster produced these in Solingen (it came to me from a Solingen address, wrapped up in a Solingen News Papier) & somehow got the rights to use the Lackawanna Cutlery Co brad name. ::shrug::

Either that or it's some sort of counterfeit but I am guessing my first guess is correct. ::shrug::

Anyways, real or counterfeit, you be the judge. It's a (in my book) "HUGE" 4 1/2" Whittler, NOS, no box, with stag handles. The 2 secondary blades have 1/2 stops, while the main blade does not have one.

I took a lot of pictures of it but I'll look for another thread to post them all. Here are a few of them.
Thanks for looking friends! ::handshake:: ::super_happy::
Tom that is a beautiful knife. Lovely handles. Great pick up.

I don’t see one right off, but there are actually a bunch from different sellers. If you saved a search, I bet it wouldn’t be long. Seems like there are many of these around.

Always good to have an ace!

Just got this one in the mail.
A Gerber "Wingtip"
3 1/4" closed and a 2 1/2" 7Cr Drop Point blade with a half-stop.
Handles are thick Aluminum. I thought they were some composite material.
Very nice little knife but the only issue is, it was made in China. ::facepalm::

I'm not sure if Gerber actually makes knives anymore. Seems like everything I've seen lately has been farmed out to Asia.

I got back an email from their customer service department that gave me a link to a website that showed all the knives and tools still made in Oregon. All of the knives I clicked on had a USA Made claim on them.

Actually, it's far from being a handful at only 5 1/4" fully opened, more like a "fingersful"! lol! 8)

Received my most recent purchase. I feel certain it was made in China but can't find that anywhere on the knife. The only label is "Precision Blades".
