Nice! I think I have a Camillus cattle knife that looks like it uses the same frame for three blades (74? I think)

Tis indeed Floyd. I got it for the scissors. I wanted a quality small jack with scissors (not a SAK) and that one fit the bill quite nicely.

I..., um, you know. ::nod::

Amercan advertising, good condition, Hammer Brand "USA" stamp, talked him down to €17 shipped, it was a must have. ::shrug:: ::facepalm::

The "USA" looks like bold writing. Could be 1945-1955. ::hmm::

LOL! This is the third old HOK ::hmm:: knife I have bought with a company name on it as advertising. I then look online to see if I can find the company. Wouldn't it be cool to find a HOK knife from a real old company & then send it to them as a gift. A knife "Bomb". ::nod:: I know  I'm strange but I think that would be a fun thing to do. But till now, I could never find a company with the exact same name as on the knives. ::shrug:: Maybe it will happen some day. :D

I collect advertising knives (and belt buckles) but focus on my own regional area. That helps as both a source of information and quite often, a source of the knives themselves. I've often told owners/management of these companies--"If you ever do a knife up with your logo, let me know". Sometimes, that has paid off. The county Sheriff had a run of SAK-clones made up with his name and the agency phone no. on them, and I received one of them, as did my Granddad.

The good thing about it is, quite often, usually I know someone who worked at, or even owned the company. Years ago, I found a very nice Buck 301 for $15; marked "PMQC 1993" with a dragline shovel on the main blade at a pawn shop/surplus store here locally. I wracked my brain figuring out what "PMQC" meant. Then, it hit me a few hours later that "PMQC" meant "Pounding Mill Quarry Corporation", a group of three quarries owned for over a hundred years by the Hunter family; who sold it last year to a large Irish-based conglomerate who controls 75% of the quarry business in the US. Turns out, I ran into a guy whom I knew was a Pounding Mill retiree in Hardee's about the time I came to that conclusion (while I was eating lunch). Went to the car, got the knife, showed it to him, and he explained that every year, employees were given a dated knife with the company logo on it. I thought the pawnshop had other knives with that engraving, but I went back; only to find they were just beaten up cheap knives with no markings at all. The only problem is that those involved in those companies usually already have the knives, and quite often, were the ones who ordered them.

Hey Tom ,nice old advertising knife! We live about 60 miles from Minneapolis, that thing sure has gone a long way to get over there . With the vertical USA does that indicate it’s made by Imperial? Seems that’s what have heard . Got several of those with 2 digit phone numbers, and one is from Standard oil in Minneapolis and the other Stanley Trucks in Wi. They were very popular pieces in there day .
Thanks for sharing that enjoy your day and stay safe.

"HOK knife" is redundant ::poke:: :D

Great to know being across the pond doesn't keep you from gathering up some wonderful knives!

This is the first ever Hammer Brand I have come across in my many, many years ::paranoid:: of collecting  so it was almost a "must have" type of knife as it pleases me to have as many different American Branded knives as I can find over here. ::nod:: :D

Tom I’m thinking the COAST is a SFO for Coast to Coast Hardware (but I’m not sure). Looks like a decent pocketknife. OH

Thanks OH! ::handshake:: Appreciate your comment! ::super_happy::

Coast is a company from Portland, Oregon mostly known for making flashlights. They have over the years & still do also sell knives. The knives are contracted out & produced over seas. Used to be Ireland & Japan, but I guess now it's probably China. Was looking at a Coast flashlight just a few days ago in a hardware store over here & it was made in China. So I asked myself if they produce anything at all in Portland now days or just contract out all of their products. ::hmm:: I have one other Coast Jack knife that I bought from the same seller many weeks ago. ::tu:: It was stamped with Ireland. The second Coast posted above is stamped with Japan. Here are a few pictures of the first Coast I bought. ::tu::
