I'm all over the map with my knife collection....why I stopped yrs ago. Very nice collection of Camillus folders! I should have been more focused like that.

Floyd, I haven't been bitten by the 72 bug, I have a couple, one special one that Jerryd bombed my way before bombing was popular. Looking at your group of knives, I noticed several that have business logos or symbols on the handles. Were there a lot of companies that used that quality of knife for advertising purposes? If there were, that would be another trail to follow.

There were some. One of the harder ones to find was MoorMan’s feed. I’m have to dig mine out and take a pic.

Yes Sir there are several advertisers and if you ordered enough you could get your own tang stamp. Coke and Harley Davidson come to mind. Also Sears and Wards and several hardware stores. Then a lot of copy cats.

And more variations and Clones seem to pop up often also.

Here’s my MoorMans 72. My dad picked it up at a gun show because he knew I liked 72’s. Neither of us knew it was a hard to find variation so I packed it for a while before learning better and putting it up. It does have one pin crack that I noticed tonight, but otherwise is in decent condition.

Excuse the bad pics, it’s dark outside and this was taken in the living room.

I have seen yellow handled ones without the Yello Jaket etch.

I have seen yellow handled ones without the Yello Jaket etch.

That is a hard to find one, and the etch to boot . Seen one like it in Janesville , years ago but in worse shape. Thanks for sharing that , wonder how many have the yellow jacket etch? Take care guys, stay warm .

I would guess the etching disappears pretty quickly with use and handling with salty hands....probably why you don't see more of them.

I can’t speak for Cuz, and I don’t know the “blue book” on them. But this one was bought at a gun show from a dealer for $30 or less, I can’t remember the exact price, but I know dad wouldn’t pay more than $30. I wan’t to say it was $25.

Camillus made 3 models of the 72 for Remington. All with Remington tang stamps ( if I remember right). A black bone, a wood and the last one slips my mind.

There were only two models in Remington catalogs.

So, there are 5 Remington variations of the CAMILLUS 72.

I think that #1 and #2 this is two variations of the same model.

I think you are right Vit, 3 basic models with variations in the models. I'm not sure why the black bone one wouldn't be in the Remington Catalogue. There was the HD 14 Harley Davidson black bone, the Remington and also a Camillus one.
