Those are priceless! I have to agree, a well tuned Colt DA, truly is the RR of the revolver world.

On the Colt SA side, I'm a sucker for the history on these... I have 4 of them. 1 blued, 3 Nickel. 3 in stag, 1 in ivory. 3 in 45LC, 1 in 44-40. Love the color case hardening on the blued one.

I even had a custom El Paso Saddlery gun belt and holsters made.
WOW. Those are really beautiful my friend! Yes, a fan of the color case hardening also. The double holster rig is very sweet too. Never owned a SA revolver. Likely because I am a DA/SA fan but I may be missing out. May have to try an SA revolver at some point. Bring one of those bad boys by when you pass by my place.

My Dad was very meticulous with record keeping and receipts (retired as an Airline Maintenance QA Manager so that figures). Still have the receipts for the Colts and no receipts as to having them re-timed or otherwise worked on. That is over 36 years ago and many (and I mean many) thousands of rounds. That said, I never slap the cylinder shut and usually slide the release before I insert it back in at the range.

We mainly shot .38 in the Python of course at the range. That said, I normally pay the extra bucks to shoot high velocity .357.

Last trip out with it, I found out that Crazy Ted Nugent was having ammo made under his endorsement. Of course being Crazy Ted the ammo was HOT as heck!

1790 FPS for 125 grain HP. I figured if the Python collapsed from that so be it. Crazy ammo. Shot 40 rounds and loved it. That velocity is really smoking with plenty of powder behind it. Don't have a chronograph so cant speak to stated box label velocity but it was hot, I will say that. Have one box left and they discontinued it for some reason. Likely from being loaded into a cheap .357 that came apart in someone's hand is my guess. Still looking for more.

Still waiting on a holster to EDC the Python. Look forward to that.

One other Colt I have, is a 90 year old 1908 Pocket Hammerless... in 380acp. These were the favorite of the gangsters in the 20's and 30's.

Thanks Gents. Great revolvers with major sentimental value attached. I would eat dirt before I sold these.

Seen these in supposed unfired condition for 5 or 6 thousand. Sellers will likely get that in my opinion. From
experience 2000 bucks is considered a smoking deal.

Not sure how much Dave's SA revolvers run but likely not cheap. Wish I bought a truckload of snakes way back when.

Nice oldie there Dave my friend. Only other Colt I have is the custom .308 made by Cooper. Essentially just a Colt branded contract rifle by Cooper.

My Python is probably valued at $3500.00

Each of those Colt Single Action Army revolvers is in the $2500.00 - $3000.00 range. Three are unfired NIB.... and the other one has had 5 rounds through it.... All have their paperwork and boxes.

Curious when the single actions were produced my friend. Certainly not doubting the value estimate as I have no clue about those. Just curious.

The 7-1/2" barrel one is a 1977 Colt Custom Shop piece and towards the $3K end. The other 3 are from the 90's and in the $2.5K range, + or - The one with ivory grips may be worth a bit more. Haven't checked lately.

Don't know, if you know of Bob Munden. He was the Master of the Colt Single Action. You can lose a day or two watching his videos...

As I recall from watching him on TV, he was no slouch with the 45 auto either Dave. But what he could do with SAA's was just amazin'!

That is a beauty. Was that a typo on 1991? Not sure if you meant 1911 or made in 1991'. Don't know much about these. Not being a smart***.

:D It's a Government model MK IV/Series 80 M1991A1. It was made in 2008 and has never been fired. It was part of a collection, the guy that owned it became ill and sold his entire collection. I bought it from the guy who bought the collection. ftd

The pistol IS a 1911. 1991A1 was what Colt called this line of 1911's. They are done up to look like a real military 1911, even started the serial numbers where Colt left off with the military Colts. The early ones were even parkarized like the military Colts. But the internals are modern series 80 fire controls.

Since the line was introduced in 1991, Coltnused that as a marketing thing.

Ferg it really is a fantastic pistol!

Ferg, did you fam-fire those in boot camp? We did, over across the fence. That's where I fell in love with the .45.
