Here is my newest acquisition: A George Schrade Boy Scout wirejack chow kit.
I have wanted a wire jack for a while, but most were out of my price range. The spoon is not original to this set, and the leather is cracked, but I fished the entire thing out of the 'Bay for about the price of a single wirejack knife.
I would have loved to have owned a chow kit like this when I was in the Boy Scouts, but instead I will enjoy it now!
My wife thinks that this week little spoon came from a little girl's tea set, but I think it is just a small soup spoon. The silver plate is worn off in places, but the knife and fork are in great shape. I have oiled the joints and treated the leather pouch, and plan to sharpen the knife.
I may use them at supper tonight, just to watch my family look mortified.

Reverend, that spoon just may well be original to the set. As I understand it they came with that little baby spoon or one like it.

Went out to the mail today to find this gem waiting for me. Scott(Triplef) posted this in the “todays finds” thread last week and I’ve been wanting one so I sent him a message and we worked out a deal. Thanks Scott for the opportunity and I plan to get it sharpened up and do some carving with it like it was intended to do!
….
The little Norton was a bomb

as was another item which I will post in the “bombs away” thread.

I finally bought myself a Buck lock back knife.
Great score, Tom! Hard to go wrong with a USA-made Buck and yours is a looker for sure.

Appreciate your comment.
Our friend garddogg56 often carries a Buck knife and the more I saw it, the more I wanted one.

I just got this 1917-39 Robeson 642214 Camp Knife. It is is in pretty rough shape, but the blades still snap and I don't get a chance to acquire an old Robeson very often.

I noticed this little easy open in the shallow end of the bay a couple of weeks ago. What got my attention was the shield, FRIEDMAN-SHELBY SHOES. The knife arrived after 2 weeks.
I was a bit dissapointed, there is no stamp, the workmanship is poor, the half stops are great as is the snap. The handles are some sort of composition. Brass liners, steel bolsters and shackle but the shield is beautiful NS and pinned to the frame.
I've noticed knives from time to time with shoe company names on the shields but never have inspected one. Hopefully most are of better quality/workmanship than this one. I suppose advertising gifts aren't always top quality.
Any ideas what company cobbled this one together?

Hi Philip,
I always enjoy researching the advertisement on old knives. Especially if I can find something.

I have been down for the last week and a half for Knee surgery, so not much going to the the gun shop and not much horse trading on knives, but a woman that just recently lost her father stopped by and said she found a knife in her dads tackle box and wanted $5 for it. I said without seeing it "you should keep it no matter what it is" she said no she needs to rid of a bunch of stuff and she will have house full of stuff for memories, she said the knife was a BROKER... I told her it was probably a "BOKER" she said I have it in the car, I gave the woman the $5 and this is what I ended up with.
Not abused but very neglected never sharpened or oiled.
