He is a former Marine, anyway this knife has nothing to do with the Corp but she just wanted him to have one of my homemade things. It is made of O-1 and English walnut, it doesn't have many straight lines, but does fit the hand pretty good. I put finger grooves in it and the handle has a slight curve. And comes with my hand stitched 9 ounce leather sheath.

I picked this up in a pawn shop in North Carolina about 10 years ago for $5. It is un marked. When I got it I could see official knife etched in the blade but it’s gone now. Other members here said it’s possibly a Cardinal Cutlery Boy Scout knife.

Here’s my favorite fixed blade. A 171UH Pro Hunter my dad gave me years ago. The stock on my rifle is beat to death from the handle of this knife wearing it on my side and carrying my rifle on a sling. I’ve carried both since 1995.

Lots of deer have been cleaned with it. I always liked it because I could break the pelvis with a couple hard hits.

Here’s my model 700 mountain rifle and my pro hunter. I got the rifle for Christmas in 1994 when I was 12.

Don’t get to post in this thread often but wanted to share this Browning Damascus Classic Fighter. Designed by Master Hattori. 200 layer double edged Damascus blade w/ cocobolo handles. More info in the “other Seki made” thread in the “high end Japanese Knife” forum.

Nice combo wobblehead, What caliber is your mountain rifle, I got one in 280 that is my favorite rifle, light weight but really accurate?

Mine is 7mm-08. My dad has one in 260 and a friend has the 25-06. I’m going to eventually get a 270,30-06 and 280. A few were also made in 243.

That 7mm-08 is a fine caliber from all I've read about it. Every caliber has its advocates. My favorite is .270.

They all have their place for sure. I used a Ruger 77 in .270 for forty years and still shoot it occasionally, but other favorites are my .243 Winchester in a first-gen Ruger 77, and my pronghorn gun, a .300 Winchester Short Mag in a Weatherby. It would be a fine elk gun but I am too pathetic physically to clamber all over the mountain. I love to shoot the .243 as there is negligible recoil and it is perfect for whitetail. Lots of the newer calibers are great, but if one only could go all the way back and just have the 30-.06 as far as rifles go, it would be quite adequate for every kind of game in the Americas.

I’ve always said if I could only have one rifle it would be a model 700 30-06. I normally carry my 7-08 mountain rifle but occasionally I carry my 7600 carbine pump 30-06. I sold my savage 110 270 because the barrel was 6 feet long and it was a chore to hunt with.
