I have a good buddy who is a Marine. He claims that USMC stands for "Uncle Sam's Misguided Children".

It might be valid in his case, at least.

The saying your Marine buddy mentioned has been around for a long time. I remember it from July 1964 when I spent my summer vacation on lovely Parris Island. I imagine some of the old salts can take it back even further.

She's dirty, dingy & not too pretty, but I decided to save this little Camillus peanut from the ebay scrap heap. Every peanut deserves a good home...

I'm surprised at how light it is, I may not even know I have a knife in my pocket. I think I'll carry it for a while and see
just how much I get to like it.

Nice! I keep procrastinating getting the Venandi for some reason.

Currently, my only Bullet is a Bear-made Moore Maker. Definitely lighter than a Folding Hunter, but still heavy. For a knife just over 4" long, 1.8 ounces is virtually a featherweight.

You're right Cody and today I tried comparing it to other single blade knives in my collection of the same size and they were all heavier. The only one that came close was a Brother with a Carbon Fiber handle.

Thank you Madmarco.. ::tu::

I didn't get a knife in the mail today but I did get a book.
This is a book that our esteemed Administrator Dale told me about. Looks like a very good addition to my library.
I really like the second pic that is from the book. If I was forging knife blades that's how I'd have to do it.

You can now get little forges for under $100.

https://www.amazon.com/Volcano-Hero-Sta ... 142&sr=8-6

Unfortunately, a good anvil is much harder to come by unless you live in an area that still has old farms & blacksmiths. I sure wish I had my father's anvil and his vise (of course, I don't have the shop where I could use them!) I shake my head at what I had access to when I was a kid. It would have so easy for me to have gotten into knife making. We had everything I needed. A really good anvil, an excellent bench vise, hand sledges, access to nearly unlimited propane (we had a huge propane tank since our house, trucks & tractors all ran on propane) stick & gas welders, grinder, drill press and a good supply of old steel from worn out plows, discs, cultivators, etc. The closest I got was making sling-shots out of welding rods and pantyhose... :lol:

Yet another beautiful knife David! You've been showing us some gorgeous models lately, please continue! I have an auto with Bocote covers and they really come to life with a little WD-40 rub down, although yours seem pretty lively as it is! Of course, I love the blade too! 8)
