Is the master blade stamped?

Here is a large lock back folder by W. R. Humphreys & Co. dating to the later 1800s era. It is similar to Miller Bros. Jameson & Co. model but has a recessed back lock as opposed to the raised back lock as seen on M.B.s model. This folder has a handle length of 6 inches.

What a beautiful old, large knife.
I like that the release is so close to the run up where the end of the spring and the tang meet.

wiseguy, that is a factory cutlery catalog for Humphreys.

While Sheffield produced many wonderful large folders and sportsman's knives, some of their greatest talents are seen in smaller folders.
Here is a cased Thomas Renshaw 4 blade pearl handled senator model with file work on the back sides of the blades as well as the back springs.
The back springs were also covered in a gold wash. "Stand" was their prominent trademark.
Amazing work especially considering the simple tools those cutlers used in the 1800s and early 1900s.
