The "standard" Case muskrat is on a 47 frame but is stamped "MUSKRAT". If that's a factory variation, it might be a "MUSKRAT-W"? Or perhaps they revert to the 6247 model based on their usual system? I suspect that it's aftermarket, however. There's less of an 'arc' on most Case Wharncliffe blades and I suspect factory knives would have slightly longer Wharnies.
Those are some beautiful knives, regardless...

It's actually just a standard muskrat that I modified one of the blades into a wharncliffe ... our Jerry6818 came up with the nickname Ratcliffe, which stuck.

That ironwood really pushes my buttons.
Have you ever forgotten you owned a particular knife then bought another one just like it ? That's how I ended up with these two "twins".

Nothing wrong with twins, Phil. It's always good to have a backup.

I was lucky to pick up one of the recently issued Maher & Grosh Kansas Cane Cutter patterns - it is very nice! Thank you Roger and Ken. I am very pleased with the knife
Here is a pictured pair with a comparable old Maher & Grosh. The older knife has no etching so I don't know if it was a Kansas Cane Cutter or another pattern. My belief is that the older Maher & Grosh was made by Miller Bros.
Roger, if you happen to read this... Do you think the older knife is a Kansas Cane Cutter or what the pattern is if not a KCC? The older knife is slightly larger and noticeably heavier. The spear blade on the older knife has a regular pull. No half stops on the older knife.

Jerry,I believe yours is a Kansas Cane Cutter and they were originally 4 1/4".Miller Brothers quit making knives in 1926.The catalogs I have in that period shows the Cane Cutter being a sleeveboard pattern. No one makes a 4 1/8 or 4 1/4" sleeve board anymore. That is why used the ad out of a 1937 catalog because the Cane Cutter was a cigar.
Maher & Grosh used a lot of different suppliers over the years and one in the early 30's was Ulster and likely others.I won't completely rule out Miller Brothers, but I think it was someone else.
P.S.That is a fine knife!

Jerry, here is a couple of photos of a sleeveboard Kansas Cane Cutter that I think is a Miller Brothers made knife. This knife belongs to a friend of mine.I have tried to relive him of the burden of owning it,but so far have been unsuccessful!
