Me thinks I picked up a LB8 'Grizzly' and not the more commonly known LB8 Papa Bear. From what I remember reading, when the LB8 first came out in '81 they used LB7 blades and it was called the Grizzly. From the pics it appears to have a serial# below 5k, but didn't want to ask the seller to confirm. Sometimes they add that bit of info to the description after I ask and it tends to drive the bidding up. ::smirk::

Here's my humble contribution. A Case 6217 (loomfixer). The blades aren't the best, but it's got real by golly bone scales and it's hard to find one of these in bone, I've been looking. Occasionally they do show up in bone, but are far past this country boy's pocket book.

Case stopped handling these in bone by 1970. From '70 until the end, '78 I believe, they were handled in pakkawood. I'll get better pics when it gets home.

Oh Cuz. You lucky dog you. It doesn't look like there's anything wrong with the blades to me. I'm envious.

This one is in the mail but out for delivery this morning. Miller Bros. WWI era electrician/radio knife. It's a little worse for wear but was cheap enough to buy to hold a place for a better one. It is a stamp that I don't have. Good handles and nice shield. Anybody got an extra master blade laying around that they don't need??

T.J. were all those military back in those days?

This one had a chance of being here on Saturday if it hadn't taken a side trip to Warrendale, PA. As you can see, it's out for delivery today.
That's Muslin Micarta.

I don't think so, Jerry. I have a Cattaraugus that has an "M. Klein & Sons" blade etch. I would say that if the shield has S.C. U.S.A. on it, it was.

That's a dandy, Jerry, even if it is covered with a hijab. Maybe the post office needs a little talking to. I bought a knife once out of Oklahoma and it left OK came to Cincinnati, went back to OK and then back to Cincy and then to me. I guess it just liked riding in a truck or plane or pack mule or whatever.

Humph, and all this time I thought they were just hungry and saying, "Aloha Snackbar".

Cuz that's a fine looking knife. What's the closed length on that one?

Why thank you. Whoever owned this one was not good at sharpening. Maybe I can get some of the worst of it out. But those scales got to me.

I'm waiting on a new Buck 301 Stockman in black Valox (to go with my 1993 model) and a Buck 301 Stockman in Rosewood Dymondwood (for when I dress up). I'm a long-time collector of stockman knives, along with other patterns, but this is my first knife purchase in some years. I'm anxiously looking forward to opening that package on Saturday, using my 1993 Buck 301's sheepsfoot blade, of course!
