You know there are some talented shutterbugs on here. Someone should make a coffee table book.

That Elephant's Toenail (?_Whaler) looks like one of the 'BIG Things' tourist attractions.
Over here we have The Big Pineapple, The Big Banana etc.etc.
So is there a Big Pocket Knife somewhere?

I have a LOT of work to do on background!
I go for repeatable pics just now. I use a Nikon Coolpix P60 Point and Shoot. 8.1 Megapixils.
It has a fair amount of adjustment. I shoot as big of a picture as the camera will take. I use Irfanview to crop and resize and I always make a size that will show on my screen with no scrolling.
This shot has the bright outdoors behind and I use flash to make the knife "pop":
Different knife, same setup:
Would you agree that if I used a more interesting background my pics would be better?

Fooled around a bit and came up with this:
Overcast sky makes a LOT of difference!!!

Overcast can make some dramatic lighting for sure.

Yes indeedy, overcast helps disperse light and reduces glare
while also providing truer colors. Least that's what I heard.
