I have some new scout pattern acquisitions, Christmas gifts courtesy of my youngest son and his co-conspirator Cosgrove Cutlery, aka bestgear.

I've got a couple of Bear made reproduction Remington Boy Scout knives. I was not too impressed with them. They can be had if anyone is interested.

Great looking knives Ken! As far as the Bear Scout Knife is concerned, that was my opinion. A couple/few of the guys had nothing good to say about that particular Bear pattern. Maybe they got lemons and maybe I just got lucky?

Picked up this Challenge Scout last week. Did some research before I bought it and could only come up with one other example with a Stainless etch on the blade. Challenge part of tang stamp is poorly or bounce struck, maybe because of stainless steel. Tang reads Challenge Cutlery Corp, no Bridgeport. No other blades are marked, the main and the can opener do have a half circle struck on the tang.
The knife has great snaps and no play, the back of the blade has a name "Billie Padgitt" scratched in it.

Nice specimen! I have an old Case military issue (I think it’s military anyway) utility pattern with a clip master but it’s very uncommon. Yours is the first one of those Catts I’ve seen with a clip master. I’m wondering if the “California” etch is because of the clip blade?

In any case, yours is a dandy!

Picked up a new display case recently. Decided to start it out with a Scout theme. Sorry the pictures aren’t better but with all the glass it’s hard to get a photo without glare or reflections.

I'm a sucker for displaying knives and you did a great job Ken.

Thanks y’all. It’s tasteful only because my bride advised me on where/how to place the contents. The display case is not real big so she recommended not to get it too cluttered. As usual she was right. I was planning to put Knif-ax combos in it, until I remembered that old BSA Knife Craft pamphlet That gave me the idea do a Scout knives theme.

Tom, I’ll get the M455 in there soon. Just started with what I had handy, mostly “official” BSA stuff. You’ll recognize the LF&C, and the Trooper. The Trooper is the only non-official BSA knife in it now - I’ll replace it with something official. My plan is to rotate the contents occasionally. (When I remember to do it.)

Picked up this Ulster. If my research is correct, it hails from somewhere between 1927 and 1940. The main blade is kinda used up, shows signs of a belt sander and not as snappy as it used to be. It's sharp and functional. The rest is in pretty good shape. Got it for just under $20. Thought the looks of the old bone, alone, was worth it.

Doc it is hard to both improve or resist those old bones.
