Q...I looked at the 'Splinter' also, but for some reason, the handle just didn't appeal to me. I suppose this is a knife one needs to hold in the hand to make a final determination about that.
Yeah, I was not particularly interested in the handle since it's not a style I collect (although I like the fact that it's titanium so it's super lightweight for a "big" knife). I was mainly interested in that big ol' Wharncliffe blade, and I also like the super solid frame lock. As you suspected, it has grown on me more than I expected once I got it in hand, which, of course, is often true of most knives.
Tom, thar Buck 703 is a nice score. Hard to go wrong with a Buck knife, even one with a few miles on it. It looks bigger than 3.25" but also has that sturdy Buck build. Perfect little knife for EDC, I would think.

Willy...I like the looks of that folder. Nice blade.
Thank you Quint, I like it too!
In all serious thou, it's a well designed overall package, of a large liner-lock flipper. I call the blade shape a "hawks-warn", the overall knife reminds me of a hawk...

This just in. Not as old as I usually want but there is just something about the profile that blows my skirt up. A late 70's NOS with box, sheath, unused knife with the cardboard blade sheath, and multifold piece. Kabar 1240 from the late 70's I think. Came out of Canada but made in the USA.

steve99f, the uncommon individuality of that pattern is a real eyecatcher. You will be able to judge how practical it is in use but I would definitely add it to my collection.

I can certainly see why you're excited about your new knife Steve, it's exactly the kind of fixed blade I would go for!

The curved profile just gives the knife some extra appeal for me! Very nice indeed, enjoy!

to AAPK AD88!

I love your new knife!

I'm a big fan of Dr.'s knives as well as melon-tester's, and your model with the stag covers is sensational!

I realize it's likely by design, but I wish they would build them with the blades straight and not curving downward, I think they'd be even more attractive!

Mailman dropped this off today. Pal utility or camp knife if you prefer. All 4 blades have half stops I think it's the only one I have with this feature although I've got one shell handle Imperial that the main blade "a sheep foot" has a half stop.

Copperheads and Copperlocks are my favorite using pattern from Case. You have a good looking one, David.

Catching up on reading the forum and noticed your latest Pal.
In a drawer I found I had 17 Pal knives of several different patterns and wondered about half stops? About half of them have half stops.
I have one just like yours except it never had the round shield, same tang stamp and configuration of the blades and punch. It almost seems that the round shield may be rarer than the plain handled knives, plus most shields in my experience are worn smooth. I only have one where the name PAL is visible. Maybe some were made with plain, unmarked shields, as your knife doesn't appear to have been used very much, judging by the full spear point.
I don't see a lot of Pals in our area, most of mine were fished out of the bay.

I didn't have one so that is the reason I bid on this one.
I figured it was a shell handled when I bid but it turned out to be a solid knife, I put in a minimum bit and got it, if it's ever been used or carried I can't tell it, it does have couple of spiders on it. I believe the shield was made that way whether a mistake or not I've no idea.

Since we don't have an official Pal thread and we're not trying to hijack the Mail-Call, of the Pals in that drawer, only 2 have a shield. One is a plain slick round and the other is stamped. My slick one doesn't show any evidence of being pocket worn to the point of no markings. In the picture, the one that is on the right is an equal end, Clip, Spay and Pen with 1/2 stops. The other one is the same frame, same clip but with only a pen on the same end, it has the engraved or stamped shield and only has a 1/2 stop on the pen blade.

These are all nail breakers!

Very nice John!

Is that the 10+ inch model?

When I first saw these I was totally unimpressed,

but when I saw they came out with the larger 10" oal models I seem to have changed my tune! I like it!
