My postman left this at my house. I'm rather pleased. ::super_happy::
Very nice Big H, ::tu:: and in top-notch condition ta boot! ::nod:: I just read a post yesterday from you where you said, "It seems I missed out on this one" and the picture was this knife, so it appears you pulled the trigger and didn't miss out, good for you and congratulations! ::handshake:: I bought one on ebay a couple months ago but it wasn't in as nice shape as yours, ::facepalm:: still really nice ::groove:: but not mint looking like yours! I noticed on your copy that the pin that holds the back spring in place seems to have a "crater" around it, I wonder if it was worked on? Also, yours is stamped "Queen" and mine is stamped "O.M.O.R.", and I wonder if that holds any significance? I just love the 10" size matched with the EZO and bone covers! Enjoy your new acquisition! 8)WIN_20220521_17_07_17_Pro.jpg

My boss had been looking for a pocket knife with a Church Key on it every since I showed her mine. Well Scott (Triple F) had one for sale and we made an offer. Scott accepted and now my boss is the proud owner of a Hammer Brand (1945 - 1955) pocket knife with a church key! Being a gracious gentleman that Scott is, he even added a couple lanyards! Thanks Scott!! You made my supervisor a happy lady! She collects for her son!! Scott is a pleasure to do business with, as most know on this forum!! :)

I hate to admit it because, with the exception of AG Russell knives, I have generally tried to avoid collecting knives made in China (for personal reasons). But the way prices and limited availability have been going for the past several years (think GEC), as well as the improved quality of many China-made knives, I'm seeing more and more that I like, can afford, and really don't mind having in my collection.

Recently, I snagged these three China-made knives and I really like them. The quality, materials and craftsmanship are actually on par with my AG Russells and the cost was extremely reasonable ($99.00 total for all three). Two Brother lock back swaybacks ($29.00 each at Amazon.com), and a Kizer liner lock swayback flipper ($41.00 eBay auction win). The Kizer is especially nice; much nicer than I was expecting.

AGR Hobo knife in green G10. In this age of hybrid/remote work I have been feeling like a hobo for two years now. At any given day I could be in NYC, at my home in Queens, upstate or anywhere in between. This is the perfect knife for this lifestyle.

I hate plastic utensils. Cutting a steak or a piece of chicken with a plastic knife is a real pain. NYC food cart fare is generally very good but the throw away utensils can barely get through lunch without falling apart. No more of that now. I added a pic of the hobo along side a Case Medium Stockman to give you an idea of its thickness. It is surprisingly not very thick considering it’s basically two knives in one. There is only a tiny and uniform gap where the two sides of this knife click together. There is a lock to keep things solid. When the fork is closed the lock engages. There is no play at all.

AGR calls this a Boxcar Jack btw. Case trademarked the name Hobo Knife. Since hobos back in the Depression rode in empty boxcars fairly often while looking for work, the name fits well.

I came to the same conclusion about Chinese made knives a while ago. The prices are low and the quality has gotten too good to ignore.

Tom, Tom, Tom.
And you in Germany! I'm so ashamed. ::mdm::
I think every brewery in Germany had a church key for their company.
It's a bottle opener.

Hey Tom, there are no stupid questions buddy. :) They call the can opener on that knife a Church Key. Back in the day oil cans, beer cans, soda cans, etc were all made of metal instead of aluminum. There were no pop tabs. They used that device on the knife to open these steel cans. I guess they referred to them as Church Key as a play on words as you would not be out fishing opening your favorite beverage and bringing it into church! Haha. Dont know. Hope my explanation makes a little sense. By the way, these knives with the "church keys" seem to be getting harder to find. :)
